Hey Guys,

Im a first year student at a DO school, but Id like to take the COMLEX and the USMLE Step I exams.

On that premise,

Would it be useful if I spent the 3 month summer break after 1st year preparing for the step 1 exams?

I do not plan on studying 10 hrs a day but may be 3-4 hrs.

Anyone done this, found it useful, and would recommend?

I also plan on getting some clinical exposure during the summer, anyone know of any programs in India or the middle east?

Thanks!

I think it would only be beneficial if you didn't learn the material well the first time and needed to catch up

Just don't get into that position and you'll be fine 🙂

I spent maybe 5-10 hrs during that summer reading official info and SDN reports regarding the exam to develop a general strategy for 2nd year and the boards. You could do that during winter break of 2nd year also.

I think this is really good advice. It's awfully early for you to be worrying about step I... remember, it's a marathon, not a sprint 😎
