I'm thinking of taking orgo over the summer at a local community college (because I'm going to take orgo next semester, and I want to get a little intro before I take it at my university), and I was wondering if I have to write that I took the class over the summer? While I intend on giving it my best, I am doing other things this summer and I'm not sure I'll be able to give it my undivided attention...so IF it doesn't go as well as I hope, can I choose not to show to it to whatever med schools I end up applying to in the future?

If you're not serious about getting an A don't take the class. You have to report all post secondary course work.

You would definitely need to send in the transcript when you apply for medical school. So either audit it or don't take it at all. You do NOT want a C in some community college class unnecessarily bringing down your GPA. You might be better off just buying the book your school uses and flipping through that over the summer. (Learning nomenclature, getting familiar with drawing structures, identifying isomers, learning to draw resonance structures, and studying acid/base chemistry would be MORE than sufficient to get off to a fantastic start in ochem, without spending any more money than you need to.)
