Currently I got to a major university and I want to take summer classes but I don't want to stay here over the summer since it is too expersive.
So back home I have the option of taking sumemr courses in a CUNY or SUNY school. Which would you take it at and why?

CUNY= City University of New York
SUNY= State University of New York

I would take general classes there like stats or philosphy. Just stuff to complete my general requirements.

story of my life lol. would love to stay at my school for the summer; sadly, i get like 0 financial aid as it is and can't just hand out another $1010 per credit for summer -_-. anyway, i can only speak from personal experience, but i took my summer classes at stony brook. since you have the option of cunys and sunys, i assume that you're near/in the city, so sb could be an option if you want to take the train, as there's a train station right on their campus.

I would say take classes wherever is cheaper. I had several classes on my transcript from no-name community college that fulfilled general studies requirements at my undergrad. Nobody seemed to care.....

Unless THAT's why I didn't get accepted to Harvard...🙄

Doesn't matter. Just means another transcript to send to AMCAS, no big deal.

Gen ed requirements: no big deal. Do check www.ratemyprofessor.com before you jump in. Awhile back I heard from someone who was taking a course at one of the schools mentioned in this thread and he was having a horrible experience with a bad teacher.

Seconded. Summer classes are already awful enough, the last thing you want is to end up with the professor from hell. You have escape time to cool off during the semester, but when you're trapped in a classroom with them for hours back to back, it can really break you.

I took Ochem as a summer course (not from either of those schools) and failed to check ratemyprofessor, and was trapped for 4-7 hours a day in a classroom with the biggest jerk I've ever met.

Be careful, though, to supplement the info you get from RMP with opinion from a friend or acquaintance you trust once you choose a candidate, because the major failing of RMP is that only two types of students post there - haters and suck-ups. Few other people are bothered to take the time.

good call with checking RMP. i'm from LI so i know a lot of people who go to sb and i've had them tell me. but hey, if you're doing classes at sb, PM me and maybe we can suffer through them together lol i'll actually be taking classes at 2 schools because classes overlap otherwise 🙁 booooo
