I was wondering if anyone knew any summer jobs for college students that hospitals offer. My one friend works in the radiology department transporting patents, which would be perfect for me considering I want to be a radiologist one day, however, they only hire people that can work year round. Thanks for any input.

Look into internships. The hospitals in my area offer them specifically for pre-meds and the like.

Thanks for a response. And would you know who to contact to apply, because I've checked the hospitals websites that are near me, and I cant seem to find much. And is this job paid or volunteer?

Honestly it's prob going to be tough to find a decent gig to only hold for a few months. Especially if you're working with pts, the hospital will have to take time to train you, making short-term employment and unattractive offer for them. IMO you're better off finding something you can continue part time during the year (transport, nursing aide, etc. all qualify).

So I just posted a reply and apparently it didn't go through, here it goes again:

Honestly, it will prob be tough to find a decent gig at a hospital that only lasts for a summer. This is b/c, esp if you want to work w/ pts, the hospital will have to spent time and $ training you. Doing all this for an employee that leaves in 3 mos won't be an attractive proposition for a hospital.

My suggestion is to find a PRN position that will let you keep working part time during the year. You will qualify for positions in transport, scribing, nursing aide, etc.

Edit: weird. my first reply didn't appear until after I wrote this one.

They've been through the hospitals' website. A few were paid but all others were volunteer (small stipend upon completion). Your "in" will be networking. I made my face known in the HR department, and if your school has any connections to recruiters e-mail them asking for help.

Best of luck!

Edit: PRN is the best position, imo, for college students. The flexibility is awesome and you stand to make some nice change, depending upon your manager and/or hospital.
