Summer MCAT Prep Program

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Ok, I was rumaging through threads concerning the uconn prep program, and I encountered one where the OP was deciding to attend uconn prep or some other program. She recently had been accepted to both...she posted the thread in early May. That may give us a tidbit of information on when we should expect to hear back. Perhaps, Uconn is just a little bit slower than most schools since they host a multitude of programs.

So after some more research.. I found a particpant who did it last year. He applied early Jan. and heard word back mid April. So guys sit pretty we should get our rejections or acceptances any day now. :xf:

Please try to think positive because you still have medical school application to go through one day. I am not sure, but a formal rejection will come to you if you was even rejected. What is the probability that all of you on this thread was rejected? I do not think it is a positive attitude to rank your rejections based on the school. I mean thinking that a "prestigous" school can give you a rude rejection, but a state school needs to give you a polite rejection. Within the next few weeks the threads will be saying "OMG I got in!!!!". I and others that follow this thread are routining for you. You will get into a program somewhere.:xf::xf::xf:

Dadoc, I echo your frustration. I really think we all got rejected because it has been more than two months. Perhaps we are waitlisted and they are stringing us along until everybody they accepted initially confirms that they are going. I do agree that if somebody had another program of interest that had a deadline concerning when to commit this UConn ordeal would be quite irritating. I called Jan this morning...at the moment she was not allowed to talk on the phone. She said she would call me back, I am not holding my breath (she is just too busy of a lady to expect such things). I asked her when we should hear back and she said .."um yeah". I hope the poor woman does not think I am going to hate her if I am rejected. I rather know then not know, and I understand some things are just out of her power. In conclusion, I will be spending my first summer at home since the start of undergrad and it is maybe for the best...And DaDoc my friend I am sure whatever endeavor you choose to embark on this summer will be as fruitful or even more fruitful than a trip to UConn. Good luck to you:luck:

I totally agree with you faith2, being positive is key and patience is a virtue. :xf:

I called today. Jan told me that they had a conference that held everything up. But, they sent all the applications off for review this week. Meaning we should hear something next week. So this week we should get no news...She told me to call at the end of the week to get more information.

Well guys, I called Jan today and she said by next week. We should know something I hope everything works out. 👍

I called Jan today she said that next week we should hear something. Yeah, I know.

Is anyone else aware of any other summer MCAT prep programs?

Frustrated, yes. Mad at their dishonesty, yes. I'm madder at the thought that they might be lying to you or from lack of attention perpetually delay their announcement.

Thanks Techmed, my friend, for the kind words and I truly hope you get in. :luck:. Keep us posted!

I called Jan. She said they are waiting for one more faculty member. We should hear back next week. Gah!

FINALLY I GOT WORD BACK!

I got accepted to track I of the MCAT program. They said they mail out acceptances April 28th! I AM IN! Now I have to really make sure I pull it out this semester! 😀

Are you going to tell them how you were dogging them out?

Me too! but for track 2! ill see you there!! 🙂

No kidding, thanks. Good luck on your MCAT bro!

I just came along your post I am looking into this program. How well did it prepare you for the MCAT? And where are the classes located at in Houston?.. I am a non traditional student, working with family obligations looking to apply for 2012 hopefully! Any insight or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

One of the best kept secrets is the MD Initiative prep course in Houston, Texas. Their classes are small and its a different approach to learning. You are actually the teachers with Doctor Sutton there to facilitate. His motto is "If you can teach it, you know it". He makes the class fun and you learn. My friend's MCAT went from a 20 to 31 after 8 weeks.

Hello! Teachme, did you complete the MCAT Prep Program? If so, how was it? It looks like it will be about two months before admissions decisions are made?
