It looks like I won't be able to do any research over the summer, and while I already have a bit of school year research experience I need to find backup plans.
Right now I'm thinking about volunteering in a local hospital over the summer and in a dog shelter (because I LOVE DOGS), while finding shadowing options and relearning the saxophone (need to get my chops back) so I can join some music clubs on campus for once. Also I may start studying for the MCATs too.
The thing is, and I may have a clouded view because my school is really pre-professional and it seems like everyone is already getting internships and research opportunities as freshmen, I'm kind of concerned if this is enough. Okay I get that I probably sound like a douche for just asking that, but I guess I feel that my current backup plan is a little underwhelming compared to other people's plans in my school.
So my plans in the second paragraph are fine, right? I'm a freshman too. (yea I'm /that/ guy)
EDIT: ALSO forgot to ask about shadowing.
I'm shadowing an EM physician tomorrow evening from 11 PM - 3 AM. I've got some questions lined up but I've always thought that the questions I ask in any field are bland and doesn't provoke a "Good question!" response from the answerer. Any sample questions that I should ask? I have a small list that I need to add to.
