Summer orthopaedic research programs

I'm looking into doing orthopaedic research this summer and was wondering if anyone knows of any good programs. I've been google searching and have found a few opportunities, most notably the one at HSS, but I'm not an idiot and I know that my chance of getting this is slim at best.

I realize that when people find good programs there is a tendency to hold onto them and not tell anyone else, which i totally understand. But if anyone has come across some specific orthopaedic research based summer programs and would like to divulge, I would be very appreciative.

The head of Ortho here said that research in Ortho isn't necessarily required to get a residency even though it's so competitive. You'll have to do research eventually along the path, but I found it more useful to just shadow a few surgeons over the summer to get the feel for the specialty, the OR, the hospital, etc.

That may just be how he feels about interviewing here, but I know people who did do Ortho research over the summer and felt it was pretty useless.
