Students, what are they? Anything fun or all work?

Pharmacists, maybe you have some vacation plans or something coming up you would like to share? I don't want to hear about how lucky we students are for getting a summer break, we don't get paid to take time off. 😉😛

Woking at my hospital "PRN" gig.

So far Ive got 20 hours/week with giving them a pretty craptacular availability this month (weddings!), so Im pleased.

Doing a 4 day trek up to Machu Picchu in June. Hey, I'm being forced to take vacation. It might as well be interesting.

Hopefully finding a real job....quitting my internship of 3.5 years....starting new job...graduating...taking naplex/law exam... IN that order 🙂

I'm going to take 4 weeks off. 2 weeks for a long RV trip...1 week for golf and another week in the Caribbeans.

I am working at CVS and my local hospital, same as last summer. I will be volunteering at a camp for ill children over the summer. I also chop wood in my sleep. 😀

For fun, I plan on taking one day to go to Universal Studios/Islands of Advature with some friends. End of term parties seem to have dried up, at least in my circle. Watching Doctor Who for sure. Not much else planned, anyone have some ideas?

Leaving what for what, if you don't mind me asking?

Next 2.5 weeks - sleeping and eating
Having a baby in 2.5 weeks
Studying for NAPLEX (a little) and KYMPJE/INMPJE (a lot)
Graduation June 11
Residency July 1 (or thereabouts)

So, how are you going to have a new baby and do residency, if you don't mind me asking?

Nice!

Sounds about right for you. 😛 Nah, sounds real nice!

Class, class, and more class. Yay for year around programs 🙄

Not nice. 👎

I have a very good husband who is a super involved father. I specifically chose a residency that has minimal weekend/evening involvement. I'm hoping it won't be a *ton* different than having a full time job. There will be projects and reading and stuff, but those can be done after the baby goes to sleep.

I'm hoping it will work out ok. :xf:

I am sure it will be.

Last exams/finals for the next 2 weeks. Go see my friends graduate. Then a summer internship at a hospital all summer. Hopefully catch a US vs Mexico soccer game in June in Houston if everything goes to plan (the highlight of my summer 🙂)

Thanks for the heads up! Didnt know they would be playing so close (Tampa Bay June 11th). Ive been wanting to check out the new Dali museum anyway! 👍

Leaving what for what, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't mind you asking at all. I have been an intern at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital since P1 year. Upon graduation I am looking to start hopefully in a retail position, or possibly a hospital staffing position. I have a few interviews next week.

Italy (Rome, Abruzzo, Naples, Positano/Amalfi Coast) for 2 1/2 weeks, Florida at some point, bunch of weekend jaunts within mid-Atlantic/NE US, then a bunch of work trips too.

Lookin forward to it! I know my camera is psyched. 😀

It's cold and rainy. I'm going to go ahead and learn White Balance today...

Just landed here...pretty much the same.

Goin gray card?

mmm...I think so. I was thinking I would use a piece of white paper for custom white balance..

Flying from Alaska to Wyoming, packing up all of my junk that can fit in 5 ft worth of a semi trailer, loading the trailer, flying with a cat (eek) back to Alaska, start new job at home infusion pharmacy, find permanent housing, take naplex, take mpje, move into permanent housing, then spend every weekend and evening exploring Alaska!!!!

Some friends of mine are doing that right now, seems like a pretty awesome place for exploring.

Nothing big for me unfortunately, got the residency thing going and other assorted responsibilities. Maybe a road trip or two, I'm hoping.

Lol...if you're serious about doing WB like that, stop at the local photo store and get a nice card! They're cheap.

I know....

5D Mark II video is unbelievable.....

You should do the Continental One Pass thing..

I mean..how much more could they do with 5D Mark III ? Higher pixel?? How high could they go? Better movie mode? Higher FPS ?

$2113 + $25. Do it before they run out!

I think 1Ds Mark IV comes out before they upgrade 5D.

Picking up some overnights to help pay for my 3 weeks vacay in Seoul during my "off block" rotation! Oh, and squeezed in a miami 3 day trip too 🙂

Super psyched.

Taking a Great Lakes road trip with DH and the dog. Visiting friends and family along the way.

IPPE rotation in Flagstaff for four weeks. They are putting me up in a condo with wifi and cable! I will still be working weekends right up until I go to Europe in July. Then it's back to Tucson for a couple of weeks before school starts. Also have the local pharm organization conference to attend in July and I am housesitting for my parents for a weekend. Fun. I am somewhat concerned about the 40 hours at IPPE then 20 hour at work for 4 weeks. 🙁

I have rotations all through summer, so no vacation for me. I applied for a scholarship to go to the AADE conference in Vegas, so hopefully that'll happen. Otherwise probably a few day trips to the beach and that's about it. Since I go all through summer, I'll most likely have a huge winter break though.

You will be fine. It's not as bad as it sounds.

And AF points?

Exams first half of this week, then some relaxing. Probably going to be working at Kmart on weekends, maybe a few days during the week. Mid-July going to Buffalo for hospital rotation. Heading to Cedar point in august right before classes start.

That's the basic outline, need to work on details to spice it up a little.

The same thing I do every summer...

Rxlea, you can do it! I just finished a hospital IPPE rotation that was 80 mi away one-way. I got up every morning at 5am and didn't get home till 6pm. Then worked 15 hours at Wags on the weekends. I had just enough time to eat meals and workout everyday.

And AF points?

I'm actually ok with 9 AF points... why does anyone need 54 different AF spots.

Oh.. and a swivel screen??? No thanks!

Of course when they first announced Video on 5D Mark II, I was turned off by it...but look at it now.

Rotations!

And I have my bye this summer, so there will probably be some waterparks and other fun stuff in there as well.

Italy (Rome, Abruzzo, Naples, Positano/Amalfi Coast) for 2 1/2 weeks

Super jealous. That was supposed to be our fall trip last October. Stupid cancer, messing things up 😡 We were going to do a northern Italy trip though - Rome was as far south as we were going. Someday...

I'm not sayin I need 54...but I definitely do feel the restrictions on 9. Especially where they are placed. Hell, I learned photography on MF, which is fine, and I'd willingly do that. But the whole switching back and forth is a PIA. So with the kind of stuff I shoot, I actually do feel there's a lot of room for improvement with the AF.

Swivel screen, yeah I agree. Could care less. Only thing I'll really check is the histogram. But I never use live view.

Aww, how are you doing btw?

Northern Italy isn't my forté. Though I've always wanted to explore Bologna, Torino and the Alps.

From Canon Rumors...so take it for what it's worth...

In the wild?
There’s word that Canon is sending out test bodies of the next 5D to various key photographers. Obviously they’ll be under a veil of secrecy. Once this happens, we tend to start getting better information.
There’s a thought the next 5D will not push megapixels, but will in fact push image quality and noise reduction. There will be a lot more sharpness and detail at higher ISO. The 26-28 megapixel range is becoming the resolution I keep getting told.
There is apparently a couple of different prototypes in existence.
What’s for certain is it will have a 19 point AF, no word on how many crosstype sensors.
1Ds Mark IV / 1D Mark V
The same person alluded to the merging of the 1D line being sooner than expected. There would need to be some new tech in a merged 1D to keep the 10fps of the 1D and the resolution of the 1Ds. It should be interesting.

Ohh, don't miss Philly beer week though

We had guest speaker come in to talk about SARPH, shes a USP alum, she told our class "I went to the BETTER pharmacy school in Philly *heheheheh*"

I almost threw my shoe at her.

Work.
Move.
Work.
Dad's wedding.
Work.
Move.

Try to contain your jealousy.

In remission, thank God. Thanks for asking.

I have never been further south than Naples; lived in northern Italy for a semester. Wait, Brindisi is further...been there too. I was torn between Amalfi and Cinque when planning our now-defunct trip and ultimately decided to go to CT. Maybe we just need a longer trip to do both 😀

Torino is cool, Bologna...wasn't that exciting to me. Aosta is a neat place in the Alps, distinct from other parts of Italy. I'm one of those people that thinks Venezia is the most magical place on earth. People seem to fall into one of two camps with Venezia, I'm in the love camp. I also went to a few smaller cities - Padova, Ferrara, Lake Garda...God, I want to go back so bad 🙁

No Philly beer week for me, as I don't drink much beer for health reasons. I can tolerate other kinds of alcohol better though, and therefore will be an active participant in our P3 bar crawl this Friday. I'll be at the annual 4th of July thing though. I went last year and it was fun. I also want to do Bethlehem Musikfest again. I went 2 years ago because I was working there at the time. Didn't make it last year, but I wanna go again.

And we are the better school 🙂 JK. Jefferson's soon gonna be the best school in the state, since it stole all our professors and now all our rotation sites.

Sell my house
Buy a new house
Graduate
Take the NAPLEX/MPJE
Go to Hawaii
Go to San Antonio

In no particular order....

I totally bombed my interview for the Fall 2008 Entering Class at Jefferson. Almost got lost on the way to Philly from my cousin's house in Wilkes-Barre, PA. Couldn't find parking once I got to the Jefferson area so my cousin had to just drop me off and cruise around Philly for a bit. Was sweating non stop since the day of my interview was rather warm for a mid-March day, went to get a Sprite before the interview from the vending machine, and of course that thing bounced on the bottom of the machine hard and then when I opened it, it sprayed everywhere. 😱:scared::scared::scared:😱😱

What a disaster that day was. This was before I found out that graphic tees underneath a white dress-shirt are a no-no. Interviewers probably noticed my New York Mets David Wright T-Shirt underneath the white shirt, they must have been Phillies fans.
