Love when my threads get more than one page. It's called winning, right? :meanie:

Awesome pharm B! Can't wait to hear what you think of the experience.

Keep em coming guys. And can I just say how jealous I am of all these awesome sounding trip?

For anyone who lives in the Toronto area:

What is the best way for me to get to Toronto from NYC if I will require a car while I am there?

A. Drive from NYC - Toronto
B. Take a Greyhound or Amtrak from NYC - Toronto and rent a car there.
C. Take a Plane from NYC - Toronto and rent a car there.
D. Take a Plane from NYC - Buffalo and rent a car there.

I'm still under the age of 25, so I'm gonna get charged those ridiculous fees by the rental agencies.

Look into Megabus. Depending what days/how far ahead you book, you can go from buffalo to nyc for like $10, and I know they go into Toronto as well. Never have traveled with them personally, but a number of friends have, and basically the first few seats on the bus are super cheap, and the price rises as it gets filled up.

Also, I'm not sure if Canada follows the rule about being 25 for renting a car without crazy fees. Might luck out in that regard.

Rotations in Alaska (Anchorage) and Colorado (springs) then back to the midwest in october.

@owle: It's double winning...this thread is two threads in one with the camera lovefest going on between Spiriva and Z

International flights are typically unnecessarily expensive. Tons of people in Toronto and area drive to Buffalo and fly out from there because the flights can be several hundred dollars cheaper for longer-haul flights.

Porter Air runs a very nice operation, and has some nice fares. The nice thing is that it takes you right to downtown Toronto, but they fly out of Newark.

I think Amtrak will be pricey as well for the international leg, better bet would be to take it to Buffalo and rent a car+drive over.

The drive probably isn't bad, but I wouldn't do it if you're going with just 1 or 2 people.

I'd say: 1-2 people: fly
3-4 people: Some type of train to Buffalo+rent or bus to Toronto+rent combo.
4 or 5 people: drive

Road trips are always fun though, it should make for a nice drive.

Oh, and BYOB, booze is expensive up here and not available at the corner store/supermarket/pharmacy.

You'll have to investigate car rental prices yourself, I last paid $40/day all-in in Ontario, but I'm 25.

I'd bet rental prices would be comparable between renting in NY or ON, but you can figure that out online.

Why do you _need_ a car while you're there?

Don't of course me! What kind of ISO have you been pushing for indoors on vid?

If picture is on 1 dimension, video takes it to another dimension.

With stills, you adjust shutter speed, aperture, and ASA. But with videos, you have frames per second on top of that and the camera is sometimes moving with the subject thereby subjected to different levels of light. American motion pictures are typically at 24fps. But most of us HDDSLR guys are using 30fps... which limits us to 1/60 second shutter speed. And with the aperture wide open in the dark (which makes it more difficult to focus due to shallow DOF), I typically leave the ISO on AE. So it changes throughout the video depending on the light. That being said.. I've pushed it up to 6400.

fun fun fun in the generic drug industry

Working pretty much all summer as a prn tech at a local hospital. Can't complain, easy money and good experience. Won't have my intro-to-hospital rotation until December...but honestly that's gonna suck since I've been doing hospital for 5 years now and know a lot about it already.

IPPE rotation in Flagstaff for four weeks. They are putting me up in a condo with wifi and cable! I will still be working weekends right up until I go to Europe in July. Then it's back to Tucson for a couple of weeks before school starts. Also have the local pharm organization conference to attend in July and I am housesitting for my parents for a weekend. Fun. I am somewhat concerned about the 40 hours at IPPE then 20 hour at work for 4 weeks. 🙁

It's doable but it sucks. I did it while I had a housesitting gig at a horse farm too. Not fun.

Woking at my hospital "PRN" gig.

So far Ive got 20 hours/week with giving them a pretty craptacular availability this month (weddings!), so Im pleased.

Id like to update that I worked 48 hours last week and 38 this week. 😱👍 $$$

And got put on the holiday schedule. <---- Now I get guaranteed hours, imo.

Working, one trip to Savannah, one trip to Florida, and taking an online class.

critical care internship with flexible scheduling!!! that and about 500 hours of mountain biking

Working and hoping to find people who will want to hang out after I basically ignored them the whole year to study and do homework.

maybe you should just be more like these people below that you dislike.. :meanie:

Some of them like to say that they're so busy to talk to me or hang out with me, but they go out, and then come back and stay up all night studying. If they just spaced it out during the week, it wouldn't be that bad.

They also seem like they just have to go out with friends and then come back to stay up all night. Then when I see them the day after, all they talk about is how they never get any sleep.

I personally would spend more time studying, make sure I get enough sleep and stay healthy, and I'd still have time to talk to people and hang out with them when I can.

Edit: I know it sounds nerdy to say you study all the time, but sometimes you just have to study all the time. I mean, you're in pharmacy school to learn. Sometimes, meeting people and socializing has to come second so you can be sure you stay in school and graduate.

You should be on my side if I ever go to court

I would hope you actually help me out 😀

people have told me i should have been a lawyer... but i just honestly don't like reading and writing that much... lol

i did have attorney land lords once, who i took to court and represented myself, and ended up getting to break my lease and live for 2 weeks for free, so maybe i have a back up if rx school doesn't work out.

And Delano and UNM would call you a hot lawyer

I can talk about them here, right?

Well, at least until Delano comes by and then sends UNM.

phone interview with CVS for an internship... week later said they weren't hiring 🙁 I guess I will keep looking and if nothing comes up which is very likely then I will be back at the pool... not getting experience for yet another summer

I listed my house for sale in late March, and hopefully I will sell it and move back to the city where I used to live. The only reason I didn't do it sooner is because I just didn't know where I was going to end up. Whether I get a job in pharmacy or not remains to be seen; we'll see what happens.
