  1. Attending Physician
Hi,

I am trying to figure out my summer.

I will take the MCAT by August 15th at the latest but I'm also considering
taking in June 13th.

I guess I'm up in the air as to whether I should re-take some courses both
to boost my GPA a bit (for DO schools) and to refresh the material for help
on the MCAT.

Currently my scores on past MCATs (e-mcat old tests) are as follows:
Verbal: 9-11
Biol: 8-9
Phys: 6-7

So I was considering retaking PHYS 101 first session summer school...
and then spend my free-time studying TBR and ExamCracker material...
While taking past MCATS every so often....

Any thoughts? Would I be better off spending all of my time studying and
forget about taking the course?

Also considering actually attending a TBR course in person ...

Any thoughts?

Thanks very much.

Retaking the physics course is not going to help you. You may want to audit a course if you think you need some review but I think that the TPR books particularly give you a good enough review as any out of all the MCAT books out there for any subject. Also, you need to be a little more clear about your status - what is your current GPA? How much do you need to raise it? Because if it needs some work, you may want to spend your summer taking another type of class other than Physics which I discourage anyways.

Right now, it seems like you are doing well on the verbal and pretty well on the bio. I would focus on the sciences section and make sure you are taking good exams to give you an accurate account of where you stand (ie AAMC practice exams).

Also, when are you applying? Taking an August MCAT may be a little late for the allopathic schools and not so so late for the Osteopathic schools if you are applying for '09.
