Hi. So, I need some help. I recently graduated from college and was planning on applying to med school this cycle, but I'm also taking one prereq over the summer and grades won't be released until August when the class is over. What do I do? I know other people have posted about classes over the summer in terms of GPA updates, but what if this is a prereq? what happens then?

The deadline of AMCAS application is around Mid Oct/early Nov. You can catch the deadline without any problems.

You don't need all your prereq grades submitted when you apply.

If your gpa is low and you're hoping this class will raise it and you want med schools to know you did well, then send an update letter when grades are released. I'd make sure you have other things to add to the letter though (ECs, etc).

Thanks silverhorse, that's pretty much what I was wondering. I don't think my GPA is low, I'd say it's probably about average (s3.67, c3.65), but I am hoping that the class will raise it.

Now to push my luck even further... I'm also taking the MCAT this summer and the score will be released around the same time as the grades for my class. Would submitting an AMCAS that's missing BOTH an MCAT score and a prereq just be dumb? God, I should've used my time at school better. A theater major is perhaps not the best course to medical school...
