Does anyone know of any programs that are similar to the M.E.D Program at UNC-Chapel Hill or SPFD at The Brody School of Medicine at ECU?

These are summer programs that give you a taste of what medical school is like. You essentially take courses in gross anatomy, microbiology/immunology, neuroscience, biochemistry, etc over a period of roughly 8/9 weeks. Here are the links to each program if anyone wants to look more into it.

I've tried doing a search for summer programs, but all I see are undergraduate research programs. I'm not really big on research and I want to do a program similar to SPFD or MED. So if anyone has any programs they know of, could you please post links/information!

I posted a link in this sub-forum earlier that lists hundreds of Summer Research Programs from Universities and even Research companies and sites. Look up my posts to find it.
it's even categorized to fit your research needs.

I'll be enrolling in one of these programs the summer before my senior year so I can't really do SMDEP, but thanks anyway! Also, the program at Georgetown looks promising, I think I may check that out whenever the course schedule comes out.

Anything else anyone knows of?

Ah, darn. Well, it's not exactly a classroom setting, but what about the DeBakey Summer Surgery Program?

This one seems very interesting; however, it appears that there is no stipend for attending it?
Yeah, that's the downside. 🙁 It sounds like a great program and various SDNer's who have done it have said as much, but the lack of any sort of funding kind of limits it specifically to those who aren't disadvantaged. Interesting, no?

when they say URM that doesn't mean asians, does it? the one in NC is biased for NCians, rightly so. where's a good list of summer programs? there's one for research on the aamc website, but what about non-research?

I am definitely a little surprised; it seems as if you are paying for an opportunity rather than earning it
