Hello,
I'm thinking about what to do this summer before med school. I think I'd like to explore neuropathy a bit more, maybe discover a different city on the East Coast or abroad. It can be an unpaid. I have a full-time job and have been saving. This is just for my own benefit and discovery. I have some research experience with hema/onco, immunohisto. I've been cold emailing people but I'd love some recommendations.

Does someone have a very positive experience working in a lab on the East Coast or abroad and would like to share in private the name of the lab? Or a fantastic experience in another field?
Thanks!

Personally I’d just stay in your job and keep making money; a few months of summer aren’t enough time to produce much meaningful research work and you will learn/have plenty of chances to research neuropathy in med school.

My contract finishes at the end of June regardless and that's also when my lease is up, so I have nowhere specific to be for 5 weeks. I was planning to go travel a bit but I think I would rather learn more about neuropathy, especially if I can work with someone inspiring and discover new methods. Any recommendations?

5 weeks? That is not enough time to learn squat. If you can’t afford to travel far, do some cheap stateside traveling. Go to Washington state and spend 5 weeks working your way from North cascades National Park to mount rainier to Seattle and then Olympic National Park then Mount saint helens and Portland and Mount hood. That is 3-4 weeks and about $1,500 if you do it right.

Do something for yourself as 5 weeks honestly would be a waste of time for the researcher to teach you something that you are not actually going to use in their lab.
