I am not sure if there are any other good threads about this topic since I couldn't think of appropriate keywords but does anyone have any good advice about studying for Step One during the summer after first year. What can I do? What should I do?

Thanks and post any links you find to old threads about this topic here.

Someone started a similar post just a day or two ago...maybe in the step 1 forum, but I can't remember. Bottom line, most the answers were nothing and nothing. Take a vacation.

Not a lot. The bulk of the material on step 1 is taught during second year, and the test is still a long way away. Do some research or some relaxing, and get ready to hit the books hard in the fall.

I'm assuming you're doing nothing during the summer and want to be productive. If you are researching or have something else on your plate your probably better off just concentrating on that. You need to put in solid study time and you won't be able to if you're doing something else.

If you want to prepare for the second year courses. Talk to the class above you and see if your curriculum has any deficiencies in it. You can address those during the summer. Or if all else fails and you like reading the general pathology section of Robbin's is a good place to start.

If you want to prepare for Step 1 consider annotating your First Aid with material you've gone over during MS1. It won't be easy if you have the standard medical school curriculum because you haven't gone over path. Unless........you read Robbins then annotate!

Don't do it, enjoy your last summer while you can. If you're really thinking about your competitiveness for residency, do research and get a poster or paper done, or something. You won't have much time for that once second year really starts running.
