hey guys, i also got the 'Hold/Lettered' for current status. i just called the admissions office a few minutes ago and they assured me that (1) i was placed on hold and (2) a letter stating so is being mailed out right now. i asked her to repeat the information so i'm 100% sure this was what she meant. hope this helps!

But does hold assure us of a spot on the waitlist? And if so, do we have to wait till April to find out our ranking? That would really blow.

I don't think I'm the typical/average applicant for UB. So definately take those numbers with a grain of salt.

Not all people on the hold list end up on the waitlist - they drop the bottom 1/3rd or so (I THINK) to form the final waitlist.

You are currently ranked, and theoretically they could tell you your current ranking, but at this point your ranking means nothing because there's so many more people they are going to interview. Wait until January or so, then call and find out where on the hold list you are. It'll still change a bit (or more than a bit) by the time they make the final waitlist.

Yep I got it too. Are you in-state or out-of-state? I'm just curious, because I'd like to get a feel for atleast the numbers of the other people who got waitlisted. I understand completely if you don't want to share though.

Waitlist is probably more specific, say a ranking.

Same here, there were more than 25 of us when I interviewed, and I think 15 were from the UC system.

It's a preinterview hold- I got that as well.

I'm leaning towards just giving up the spot since I'm in at a school I have that I prefer to it though

Oh wait, just kidding. Sorry! I wasn't waitlisted, I just changed from Interview to Accept, cause I didn't interview until 11/9. Don't want to skew the stats for people who got accepted off of the waitlist 🙂 Congrats to everyone. Are you thinking of going there?

It's pretty much 100% off campus. Look in the folder they gave you on interview day. There's a printout of a website people use to find roommates/apartments.

Most people live in apartments in Amherst (northern suburb of Buffalo), houses in the general vicinity of the school, or apartments downtown near the hospitals. The schools is roughly between Amherst and downtown. It's generally pretty easy to get to school from any direction (except when there's construction in the way) - I live downtown near Buffalo General and it takes me about 20 minutes to get to school in the morning.

Rent is very cheap in Buffalo. I live alone and pay $580/month with all utilities included. People with roommates pay as little as $200.
