This is really discouraging that the waitlist movement has slowed down this much. When did Mr. Rosso tell you guys that you were in the upper part of the bottom 3rd? He told me back in may that if he "eyeballed" the list I was just about in the middle of the bottom 3rd. Hopefully you guys will get in this week and then I'll get the call in a few more. How many more weeks do we have left? Four?? Good luck guys.

Also do you guys know any one that is already planning on going to Buffalo? If so do you know if they have their financial package? I think that some people are still holding multiple acceptances because they are waiting on their financial aid package from 2 or more schools.

I would let you stay at my house for a couple of days till you got your feet wet and things settled down.

I have seen many (not as many New Yorkeers) people that are coming from out of state in your class.

I have seen a couple of Illini and Floridians and some Cali

Just remember that I financial aid package is all screwed up in the SUNY system do to the late tuition hike.

They sent out all the award letters in April and May and forgot that they needed to factor in the tutuition. SO they are resending all the award letters in a week or two.

Thanks for your help. I'm suprised, there are more
non-new yorkers then new yorkers in this years class? Hopefully there will be two more added to the class (Raven and I). Everytime I talk to Mr. Rosso or anyone in the admissions office they assure me that the waitlist is still moving. I guess that is all we can hope for.

When I first discoverd SDN I never thought I would be spending this much time reading and posting on here! I'm getting all my friends who are starting the application process this summer on here immediately.

There are more people from New york in the class of 2007 but there are more non New Yorkers in your class than our class, that is what I meant

I am sure you are all going as crazy as I am. I have been waiting for this freaking call for about 3 weeks now... Every day I think "maybe today is the day"... Blech. Well I just wanted you all to know I didn't get the call and neglect to post about it.

Hey I called Mr. Rosso today and he said that (if you aren't already) you can call as often as every week.
He said this week's movment was VERY slow but he hopes it to speed up.

Also, if any of you are getting worried abuot housing, he said that UB helps you find housing and there will be a listerv of all the students so you can perhaps find something through that. (though it is kind of getting late at this point)

OH and also they won't tell you what part of the bottom third they are in though obviously it is still the upper part since that's the one I am in.

Hey guys, I finally got the call on Friday. I thought that I was in the middle part of the bottom 3rd, but I guess I was towards the top. It was kind of ironic, I got the call while I was on a road trip to drop my girlfriend off at her medical school in Chicago. Mr Rosso called around 10:00 am. I'm going to continue reading these posts. Good luck to you guys, I feel good about your chances. I think that they are probably about 25 people into the bottom 3rd, so Raven you should be getting the call any day. Anyway, good luck to you guys and I hope to see you in school!!
 
hey congrats man, you made it !!!!!!! Been hoping u made it into buffalo since u wanted it so much. I wish you the best of luck !!! when do you guys start? At drexel we start on the 4th of august for orientation

Did Mr Rosso tell ytou that you were in the top? I am getting extremely nervous that they skipped me or couldnt get a hold of me or something.

I am slightly freaking out. You are going to live in BUffalo w/ your family? let me know if you come across people who need roommates.

Ant, we start on Aug 11th. I'm looking forward to starting now. I think that all the stress of waiting all summer has kind of motivated me.

Raven, have you done your FASFA, and cpr class? I didn't know that we had to do a cpr class, but maybe you should take the class in case your are accepted at the last minute.

Also I think that if you called and asked if you were skipped Mr. Rosso would tell you. Back in May he told me that I was in the Bottom 3rd, he gave me the idea that I was about in the middle, but he said that was an "eyeballed estimate." I would think that your name will be coming up very soon. Keep letting him know how much you want to go to Buffalo, I think that might help. Good luck and I'll let you know if I hear anything.

Hi,

Now I am getting very confused, but hopeful! I really really want to go to SUNy Buffalo. I am in the bottom third and have been reading these posts quite regularly, especially yours DocAdam2K....

I called last week on Friday and they mentioned that the list has almost halted, yet (congrats gwalst!!!!!!!!!) got in......

Does that mean we have approached the middle third of the bottom third? I am in that range.....

I hope all of us get in.....This is my first choice school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called a week ago and they told me that the list had basically stopped moving, but then I got called on Friday. You never know. I estimated that they are still calling about 5 people per week. I think that you guys still have a good chance. Try and prepare for the call so the administrative things are taken care of and you are ready to start. For example do your FAFSA, and get you physical. Good luck guys.

Just an addition to what JWalst55 said

Make sure you have your physical with all vaccinations (TB), As soon as you get the call.

Call OME or Financial aid (or stop by the office and make an appt) fill out your direct loans application and make sure you have all your financial things taken care of

New Award letters should be coming out next week

I think that you guys are going to get in. Seriously do that stuff that DocAdam mentioned. I'm having one hell of a time trying to work full time and take care of all the things I need to do. Good luck guys, everytime I log on to SDN I'm hoping to hear good news from you guys.

Thank you for all your input, I checked in with Mr. Rosso yesterday and I am really really discouraged. He mentioned that the waitlist movement has halted!!!!! This is extremely discouraging.

There is always hope! If anyone out there has any updated information please post! It would be much appreciated!

did he mean halted as in: that's it for the yr, no more acceptances will be given? or does that mean for now it is halted?

I talked to him yesterday morning and he just said it has been slow in the last couple of weeks.

why is he telling people different things? I am freaking out

I guess we are recieving conflicting information. I am also freaking out!!!!!
HALTED= no calls for a few days.....to my understanding

I was told to check in weekly, so maybe I will do that.

All I know is that this was my first choice, and it would be nice to be training there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe there is about 3 weeks left?

Called today and they mentioned that they have not made any calls for a couple of days. This is very dissapointing!

I had my hopes in going here for medical school!
I would really have liked to go here!!!!!!

I haven't heard anything, but I know that you guys still have close to two weeks left. Make sure the let the admissions office know that you could be in Buffalo ready to start classes even if you are notified the last minute. Good luck, guys. I'll post if I hear anything.
 
Mr Rosso called me today at 4:15 pm.

I am so excited I can't even think. Thanks for being so supportive through all this guys, and HELP, I am sure you will hear soon and I am rooting for you.. It's still only July.

So now its me! I soooo want to go to Buffalo and be a doctor, this has been my dream for years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called the office and they mentioned no calls have been made (but that was before 4:15pm🙂. I followed gwalst suggestion and emailed them that I am ready to attend classes even if they started!!!!!(Thank You)

Wow, this must be a huge relief!! I know how it felt for me, and I got the call close to two weeks ago. Do you have all the administrative stuff ready?? I still haven't been able to get any information about loans. Let me know if you hear anything. This is tremendous news.

Help, now it is your turn. I'll keep checking the board for the next two weeks hoping that you get a call! It would be awesome if everyone on our message board gets in. I think that you will be getting the call soon. Good luck.

I am wondering if by chance you are able to perhaps send me the names of people who need roommates, or availale housing. I am in the Boston, Massachusetts area. I will be going to Buff sometime during the next couple of days to get all my paper work and such in order as well as find somewhere to live.

also, do you know how to get on the listserv? maybe all this info comes with the packet... anyway - thanks~!

About the loan information, I called financial aid and they said they will start sending out awards after August 1st, but she promised me we would have them before Aug 19th- which is the day the first semester's tuition is due.

Go to the website as many people have put up requests for housing and the school has put up a list of apartment buildings for rent.

Hey all,


Thank you all for your support. I have recieved NO calls this week.
As Mr. Rosso put it the window is closing fast.

I wanted to let you all know how lucky you are to have the chance to study at Buffalo and become doctors. No matter how much work they throw at you- know that you have the chance to pursue your dreams!!!!!!!!

This has been a very stressful summer thinking that I had a chance to attend and be a doctor. However, we all now know that the waitlist went into the middle of the bottom third for this years class (as that is my location).

for those of you guys who feel that if they can't get into UB, they can't get in anywhere-

1. I attended UB undergrad.
2. I have 10 cousins who did undergrad at UB.
3. 6 of these cousins went to UB Medical School. (1 did Engineering and another did MBA).
4. Also have an uncle and a cousin who are volunteer faculty physicians at the medical school.
5. My father has taught at UB (physics) for almost 50 years.
6. I was a run-of-the-mill Dean's Listing, Honors Program student. Graduated Cum Laude w/ B.S. Biochem.
7. My first interview went astonishingly well. The physician was calling me 'Doctor' at the end and he even said 'see you this fall.'

What happened? I never got 'the call.' Unfortunately, UB's new admissions process (read: Behavior-based interviewing) among other things, has caused some problems in truly evaluating worthy applicants.

I was lucky in that I still managed to get into two other schools (that I had ranked much higher than UB in my personal preference) and I am very happy where I am. No, I am not bitter, I just worry about the many well-qualified applicants that have been turned down in Buffalo. (and I never thought I'd say this, but I really miss Buffalo! The school is great, my best friend is in the med school, and my gf lives in Buffalo)

MORAL: if you really want to go to UB and you don't get in- Keep your head up and try harder the next time and make an effort to try your best at the other excellent SUNY schools.
