SUNY Downstate fall semester transcript request?

I just got confirmed that my application is complete at SUNY Downstate and received a letter from them requesting my fall transcript .... did anyone else get this? I thought it was kinda weird considering I just finished my 1st week of classes. Just wondering if anyone knows whether this is typical for SUNY Downstate or all med schools. Thanks.

does anyone know if med schools care about senior year grades in the fall after everything is submitted?

If it's anything like last year, it's a pre-interview hold.

Bright side is I got off that hold before even submitting Fall grades last year so there's hope.

Not sure about the fall transcript request thing (I applied very late last year so I already had my grades), but with regards to your second question... Fall semester grades are definitely still considered. If you're going to slack off, wait til Spring to do it - and even then obviously failing is not really an option if you value your medical school career... But definitely enjoy that last semester of college, you're gonna be in for quite a bit of work come next year.

Was this the same letter that stated you're complete or did they send 2 letters?

I got the same letter. It reads as if you are on hold until they receive the grades, but I was invited for an interview a few weeks after I received that letter (and read a post from someone else on SDN who had the same experience).

LEdaddy, did you get the invite before you sent in your grades?

I got the same letter earlier this week. I called and asked if there would be any disadvantage since my fall quarter grades won't be available until the end of December! The lady said no and "just send them in when you get them." I can't imagine being put on hold for that long, especially since I've already completed all the requirements and am now taking classes for "fun." 👎
