Is anyone here applying to this program. I'm trying to get through this but I'm hitting a huge road block right now. They're asking me to complete the forms for application to the graduate school but I've already sent in the one form the MD/PhDs are linked to. I'm not sure if I have to do the regular application for the graduate school as well. This is a huge problem for me if this is the case so any info would be helpful. Thanks and good luck!

I applied last year (accepted, not attending) so maybe I can be of help. I remember having to fill out two sets of forms ( one was the standard med school one was the standard grad school). there was nothing MD/PhD specific. They may have changed it this year. It was really anoying because some of those forms were PDF not modifiable forms requiring paragraph responses, not something you want to hand write. At some point I broke down, printed my responses on a different piece of paper, cut them out and taped them onto the form. Didn't seem to hurt my application. Maybe I got creativity points 😉

If you have any other questions about downstate or any of the other schools I applied to and visited feel free to post/pm.

Thanks for the response. I've been calling them all day and of course the people I need to speak to are "in meetings all day" or "won't be back until monday". On all of their pages and even the secondary, they give a link to one form for MD/PhD. It asks something like, why do you want to do research at Downstate. Only today have they told me that I need to also fill out the graduate school application. I'm filling it out today and faxing it to them tomorrow morning. I just hope this all isn't too late. What did you do for letters of recommendation? I have my committee packet sent and I want my letters in there to be forwarded to the graduate school and they said that that is ok but they're really bad at telling me what I need to do and what I don't.

I'm using acrobat pro which has a "typewriter" tool so I'm able to type out my responses onto the PDF and save it. Thank goodness cause my handwriting is a mess.

You are definitely on time, if not early. no sweat.
They said the one set of letters going to the medical school was enough.
