Hey Guys, I got Alternate Listed at SUNY Downstate and it's my top choice. Praying for an acceptance come May.

Int: 1/24 Alternate Listed: 2/15

Interviewed 1/20. "Hold for Spring Consideration": 2/15.

And reading into the application thread, this seems to be the lower end of the people waiting post interview, as opposed to the alternate list. Oh well, guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

i interviewed feb. 15th and was accepted on feb. 28th

fireitup mentioned it earlier in the school specific SUNY Downstate thread. He/she had applied last cycle and seemed to know about it.

Hey, I was in your position last year. I called up the office last year and was told that it is considered to be the precursor to the alternate list. If you look back at last years' thread, you will see that almost all alternate listed applicants were accepted, while only a handful of those on hold were. I also vaguely remember one of the adcoms saying that if you got alternate listed later on in the year with the letter stating that the class was full, you are in pretty good shape. Of course, if someone else could corroborate this I would appreciate it, but that is the impression I got: alternate > hold.
 
Hey everybody, I interviewed in mid February and haven't heard anything. It looks like it can take up to 2 months to hear back. Just wondering, does the application status website change when you've been reviewed by the committee? My status site looks exactly the same as it did before my interview.

No, the status page remains the same until you receive your decision letter, although, if you get put on hold or rejected I think it does not change at all.

Hey guys a question,

I know that everyone here on the alt list received medical forms and the notice to take a CPR class. I was wondering if these things all needed to be completed before a student is eligible to receive an acceptance off the alternate list. Or are they general things we need to complete to be able to matriculate?


I sent the confirmation form and the transcripts, but haven't had the physical/CPR class yet.

Just complete everything the letter asks you to do, the forms and the BLS are not too difficult to complete anyway.

That is the right one, just make sure it is American Heart Association Certified and it is called BLS for "HEALTHCARE PROVIDERS". That's it. It's a one day course, take the test afterward, ace it, and you get the card very soon.

My friend asked at a different university and they gave him a straight answer (accepted afterwards)

Got a call on my cell phone asking if I was still interested in being on the alternate list, I'm sure my fellow alternate listers will be getting the same call, so dont get too excited by it!

I didn't receive any call from the admission office today, yet I have two unknown miss calls that are not 718 area code. Did you send any LOI or anything after the interview?? Just curious.

No I didn't send anything post interview except for a thank you email to my interviewer. Maybe you'll get a call tomorrow?

Hopefull not, because I am working tomorrow, and I think the only place that I can talk on the phone is in the bathroom...lol. Anyway, thanks for giving us a heads-up.

i'm sure they'll leave a message or send you an email or something if you're unavailable, I wouldn't sweat it.
 
oh dang, I didn't get a call. I did send in a letter of intent though. Maybe they selected a few to be accepted and wanted to double check?
