Folks, I'll be a first year student at SUNY this August...
I shan't be hard to spot - just look for the 53 year old guy, that'll be me.

And what kind of comedy would you expect an optometrist to like?
"Aqueous humor" of course. Now...

I'd like to hit the ground running. Does anyone have any first semester
lecture transcriptions that they would be so kind as to email to me?
I'm not sure what format the transcripts are in, but I assume anyone
who has access to them would be able to shoot them to me via email.
If there is any way I can return the favor(s), I will of course be happy to so do.

My thanks for your time and consideration!

Hey I will be a first year at SUNY also, but I will be 21... This is going to be an interesting year!

I too would be very interested in getting some lecture transcriptions to get a head start. If anyone has them, we would be very grateful.

Breathe in. Breathe out.
Calm Down.
Everything will be okay.
Class doesn't start for another 5 months.
Enjoy your summer.

Zye, I'm not at all anxious or worried. I simply find that when I
have pre-read lecture material that I get considerably more out
of the actual lecture than I would have sans priming, that's all.
Breathing in? Got that down pat! Breathing out? Every now and
then, those Bio 101 cue cards sure do come in handy. ;>)
Ciao, see you down on 42nd Street!

We actually don't have the copies of transcripts online. Each person who subscribes to the transcrpt service (for $25) takes turns transcribing lectures and then someone (actually me) photocopies them for those who opt for the service..so it isn't something we can email you guys. See you guys in August..=D I suggest you guys take it easy till school starts anyways b/c you'll be studying ALL the time (even when you're on spring break ..like us right now, sigh).

Aha! Well, it's good to know the person who runs the show!
Thanks muchly for the gory details, see you come August.

yes enjoy your summer! it's possibly the last one you'll ever have (j/k)... and a big thanks to richard86 for being a super copier! can't wait to get to that 2008 midterm sitting in my mailbox.... :D

lol, hi cherryplum!! yeah, but np..i wont be sleeping tonight=p (or tomorrow)

good luck on rosy's midterm! the most impt class of first year isn't even transcribed (prof. doesn't allow it).

Hello,

If you really want something to study before school starts, then you should get this book (lots of people have it here)...

http://www.amazon.com/Clinical-Anatomy-Visual-System-Remington/dp/0750674903

It's useful for just about every class and has a lot of needed details in it. Come to think of it, even just leisure-reading through that book would have been good before starting school...to at least give me an introduction to some things.

See you in the fall!

and...
:hello: Hello Jenboo, cherry, and richard! :hello:

What about the other two books in that bundle? Is it worth buying all three (I'm going to SUNY also)?

- Primary Care Optometry by Theodore Grosvenor OD PhD FAAO
- Clinical Procedures for Ocular Examination by Daniel Kurtz

I LOVE the Remington anatomy book and the Kurtz book, they're both extremely helpful. Don't know anything about the third book, though.

If you must buy a book and you are coming to SUNY, I'd recommend Schwartz's Visual Perception book. It's a class you will take first year and the information there is covered on the boards.

I was wondering about those two in particular because amazon bundles them together, not because I'm dying just to buy any book! :p

oh, good recommendation on the visual perception book, although I would wait because I think Dr. Schwartz is working on a new edition - don't know if it'll be out by next year though

oOooo!
