there is a lot of movement at most schools esp the closer we get to May 15th. and when fin packages come out(April). many people are holding more than 1 spot. I am holding 4 and have 3 more interviews. just remember when you will out fafsa that upstate or any school thats your on the wait list for, and send it all in so(when ) you get in you will get all the fin aid.

You have a decent shot on the HPA list. Send them a letter of interest, and it can't hurt to keep telling them that you really want to go there (unless they ask you not to). If you know for sure that it is your first choice and you will go there no matter what, you could also send a letter of intent, but make sure that is what you want, because they are pretty serious about it.

Unfortunately one can't predict how much the list will move from year to year, but if you are flexible about clinical sites you have a much better shot. Good luck!

What about objective information is that sensitive?

There are a lot of people (like me until recently) who just stalk these forums and don't post. Also there are probably plenty of people who don't have anything to report and are just looking for info. There is a very lonely Upstate Class of 2012 forum, perhaps I'll be seeing some of you on there soon...

I will really die to go to this school....really liked the place and the students I met during my interview....Does anyone know my chances of getting accepted from an Upstate High Priority waitlist?....As anyone been accepted in the past from their waitlist?....I am just a little nervous and pray Upstate accepts me...any thots?😕

I'm currently an MS I at upstate. Several of my good friends in the class were taken off the high-priority list. I'm not sure if they got to the other lists last year. Was interviewed in Jan but was placed on the HPlist 🙁. This is not comforting at all. Anyway, I am working on plan B, which is a post-bac program (just in case) while I am preparing for another upcoming interview.

I suppose I will not hear anything from them until May.

You should hear pretty soon, maybe next week. Check your status page, if it says decision made you will find out soon. If you got in, you'll get a call today, tomorrow, Monday, or even Tuesday. After that you probably got waitlisted. I think you'll get the letter after a week or so, should be to your preferred address.

That's the one, the same place where it tells you what they have received.It will be next to the box that says "application status", right between "application type" and "current program". If it is blank they haven't reviewed you yet.

Yeah, it will say 'decision made' where all your information on the status page is displayed. It isn't clearly seperated from everything else.

Yeah, if you were offered an interview it wouldn't have changed until a few weeks afterwards, so they rejected you. Good luck with your other apps!

It's in the application summary, but the status doesn't show up until there is decision. The line isn't even there.

Don't worry and congrats. I got accepted around that time too, and I haven't received anything either. I called the office today and Rebecca said that there was a mix up and people who got accepted around that time haven't had their acceptance packets sent out yet. They are being sent out now.

when i called to check on my packet i asked them..i got syracuse and i had picked "prefer syracuse but would take binghampton" i would guess you probably got what you wanted. i wanted syracuse cuz im not interested in primary care

I am from the West coast but can only take the trip once I am taking off the HPA list....I keep praying EVERYDAY!!!!!!!😳

The interview is pretty relaxed. If you can talk about how you want to be in Upstate NY they will take note of it. And bring some boots if you are going to have to walk outside, you can change into nice shoes once you get inside.

You get the opportunity to sit in on classes while waiting for interview. It's pretty different in those terms. It gave me something to talk about during the interview. Like most interviews, they will be relaxed if they don't see any red flags. My upstate was completely relaxed (scale 1-10, 1) But if you have something like a lack of ECs, no shadowing , low GPA, low MCAT, or no connection to NY then they might start to grill you. My SUNY buffalo interview was like that because I had no shadowing and no connection to NY. The dean felt I was some entitled brat whose parents wanted him to go to med school...*cough*...which is completely not the case.

You should get a call within about a week after your status page changed. If not, you'll most likely be waitlisted, and you'll find out by mail a bit later. The status page looks the same either way.

I interviewed there this week, and they said that they are still actively accepting people into the class. They also said that they normally take people off of the waitlist continuously, right up until orientation day! Hope that helps, and good luck.

that's good to hear that they are still offering acceptances. i called them yesterday and they said that the admissions committee was meeting when i called. hopefully we'll all hear from them next week or the week after...
