I will be submitting my application by the end of this week. However I don't have my mcat scored yet (June taker) I will know in 2-3 weeks. I don't want tot wait that long as it takes 2 weeks for app to be verified.

Which osteopathic schools should I include when I send my app. (1 school) then which schools should I add after my mcat score is released. Let's assume 500 mcat.

Gpa: 3.98 (small state school, not ranked or anything) (non-urm)
Mcat: pending
300 hours Emt volunteer
100 hours hospital volunteer
40 hours shadowing Ed D.O+ D.O letter
300 (in process) hours research/ observing internship at one of my states major hospitals. (A lot of shadowing and doing research(data mining) on trauma victims). I'm currently doing this and don't know if I'll publish
Amonother things.

I live in northeast, which is another problem since many do schools are in the south and prefer rural applicants.

Are you talking about doing a throw away school to get verified? If so, pick so where you would never live or has a high regional bias. Mine was ACOM bc of high IS bias.

Pending MCAT ( good one in high 20s)
Pcom
UNECOM
Rowan if you're from nj
Touros
Nova

It's just hard to tell without an MCAT....you really need those scores to finalize your list. Your gpa is good enough for any school, but it's all on your MCAT

How did u pick Acom, I was thinking Michigan state, cause I know they have in state bias but, then idk cause I would rather pick a hard school to get into but one that I can get into if my mcat turns out to be high.

Not from nj, an I'm scared of the touros...

basically not wanting to live in Alabama! Again, it's all personal preference, not personal against the school.

Yea I'm not applying Touros bc the only one I would apply to is NY and I don't like it there....too urban for me. I'm looking into a lot of rural schools. I'm from a big city but I am a pharmd grad (in a time long ago) and I've done many rotations in WV rural hospitals and I see the lack of care vs my monopolized university run urban health system. So I can speak to it and have experience to it. Plus I do live close enough to most of the schools to be considered. I applied late (like dec) and took MCAT in January last cycle and didn't have a DO letter and my MCAT was a few points off. Most of the schools were adamant about me reapplying this cycle with a new MCAT.

You really have to think about what you want- mission, geography, realistic chances, etc. a lot more of that will fall into place with the MCAT 🙂
