Support group for those still waiting on ii

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I never even got an II from PCOM with a 3.81/35. Stats aren't everything- some schools are very into "fit".
I've been curious about PCOM's admission preferences for a while now. The only thing I would guess would be connection to the school and exposure to osteopathic medicine. Anybody else care to wildly speculate with me?

I currently have 2 II and still feel as apprehensive as I did before, I think the best advice I can give is stay off of SDN. It is a long cycle and I am sure we will all be hearing back from schools in due time 🙂

Do you mind sharing when you were complete?

my aacomas was verified on 7/10, I started reveiving secondaries right away but put them on hold until after my mcat retake so that I could focus on studying, so my complete days started around the last week of August or the first week of September.

Thanks for sharing. I've been complete around 9/10-9/12...

Still waiting for my first II from DO schools.

Still waiting for my first II from DO schools.
I got my first one only a few days after becoming complete at that school (ACOM) then a week later got my next (KCUMB) and this week I haven't gotten any. I just updated my application with a new (much better) MCAT score so I am anxious for my file to get updated and see where the new score takes me, but a lot of schools said it will take a few weeks.

Interesting.....you say KCUMB has lackluster admit stats, yet they have posted some pretty spectacular match lists each year. Even last years match list was very good in comparison to other schools. Your argument begins to fall apart right there.

Idk why people always fall for these posted match lists. Let's take an example. Kcumbs 2013 match list says that 1 individual matched ACGME IM at Mercy Medical Center (Baltimore, Maryland). When you go to the programs website, you see that there is not a single DO from KCUMB. And the site was updated September 2014.

My point is that you can't read too much into match lists. They aren't always accurate. That's why I choose to look at admit stats because they portray a better picture of the student body's capacity. We are entitled to our own opinions.

2013 Match List - ACGME Derm at Mayo-Rochester, multipe ACGME EM matches, multiple AOA ortho matches, multiple ACGME gen surg matches. From the PDF on KCUMB website. Your argument falls apart again, and I used the same evidence you did. You're obviously looking for the information you want to see, not the full picture.

You can't read too much into admission stats and you're right that we are entitled to our own opinions even though yours is wrong.

Did you go on mercy medical center's website to validate? If you did, you would have seen no KCUMB grad as an IM resident.

You're making this too easy for me. The IM match you're referring to doesn't exist on the match list.

Now if you're referring to the 2014 match list that hasn't been posted by KCUMB yet, and I wouldn't be using a KCUMB match list posted on SDN for my argument.

And KCUMB is one of very few DO schools to have a student match ACGME plastics. Although there was probably a lot more work done by the student to obtain that. ANNNNND....resource for that.

3.7cGPA, 3.55sGPA, 27 (11/6:10), 32 retake (12:8:12)

Still nothing. I do have a MD II though...

Sorry for being neurotic

Is it normal for me to not hear anything a week after completion? I have fairly strong stats: 3.6 cGPA, 3.35 sGPA, 33 MCAT

Applied to 10 or so DO schools, most complete a week ago.

you will get in somewhere, don't worry.

So simply put, you think KCUMB LIES about their match list in order to make themselves look good?

I'm pretty sure that's illegal dude.

Also as said above many hospitals have not posted this years interns (2014-2015) so your argument about not finding them on the website is a bit off.

Research is lacking in this one...

The IM match certainly exists. Look right here:

The fact that there are discrepancies between two documents that are supposed to show the same data is interesting...

You are seriously brutal. The Mercy Hospital match is IM in MISSOURI, the Mercy Medical Center IM match is IOWA. Both of them are found on each match list by State, Affiliation, and by Specialty. I'll even lay it out for you.

If you're going to diminish a longstanding DO school with a good reputation at least do better research and formulate a better argument. Nice try though.

When were you complete?

Honestly, i'm not 100% sure. I was listed as complete at a couple schools in mid july, but not others until my science LOR came in at the end of august. Idk if the schools i was "complete" at were also waiting on my LOR.

The MD school i got my II at did not require letters to be in prior to offering an II

The best thing to do in an instance like this is just ignore him. Neither of you are going to change the other ones opinion.

The anxiety and apprehension does not go away, even after an acceptance. You're going to be absolutely fine!!

still waiting....

5 responses, 3 ii's, 2 rejects, 7 no word yet...

I do feel very fortunate for what i've got. what're your stats and when were you complete?
Where were you rejected, if you don't mind me asking? I know you have pretty good stats.

You'll crush those interviews and have an acceptance in hand in no time. I have a feeling most of us will have many many more rejections than you lol

Awesome

When were you complete? I am complete 1.5 week ago...0 responses.

I've been complete since Aug 5-9 almost everywhere. Western got back to me right away with an ii (i'm instate). So did KCUMB. Rocky Vista and AT Still rejected me rather quickly (post secondary). Everywhere else is silence. It's been 6 weeks now and I'm on silence at the vast majority of places....1.5 weeks is nothing.

Thanks, Pickleman. Are you a 'hawks fan? Super stoked for the season. Probably the last time in my life that I'll be able to watch every game but c'est la vie.

Pickleman, that's new, I like it though! Much better than previous attempts at nicknames. Huge hawks fan! Been a fan since the JR, Chelly, and Shantz days when they couldn't seem to get through the playoffs let alone make it to the playoffs. I'm definitely pumped for this season although I won't be able to watch much, enjoy it while you can! I'll make some time for a game here and there, and my dad hinted at getting tickets to a game over thanksgiving break, so I got my hopes up for that!

I never even got an II from PCOM with a 3.81/35. Stats aren't everything- some schools are very into "fit".
Some look at legacy, where you live and they get 8000 applications, 5000 complete, interview 600 and accept about 400 for 260 spots. Some of our applications are going to fall through the cracks.

Hi all,

Does anyone know which schools have not even starting sending out II's yet? Thanks.

That's what worries me the most. I see so many comments like "you're fine for all DO schools" etc. but it is technically possible to be rejected by all schools due to being unlucky. I mean, out of those 5k complete applications, there must be more than 600 people with stats within range, good ECs, decent fit, etc.
I'm applying to only 6 DO schools, really hoping I won't be rejected by all...

Then apply to more if you can.

Thanks, brah. Out of curiosity, what were some previous attempts? Man, Chelios and Roenick were so awesome. I remember as a kid being genuinely confused as to why the hawks traded Roenick.

I for sure will. I plan to soak in every second. Hopefully Richards comes through. It's amazing how good we've been over the past few years without an actual second line center.

Dude, going to games are so ridiculously awesome buuuttt they are also ridiculously expensive. Once I make my final school decision I may celebrate by going to a game! Maybe I'll get front row by Vince Vaughn! Hahah.

Still waiting here as well, applied to 18 DO schools did secondaries for 16 got one rejection pre-secondary and one rejection post-secondary.

Applied to 10 DO schools (was completed end of September)
Recently added 2 more DO schools which I need to submit secondary asap.

Til now,

1 post secondary rejection
Others - still waiting to hear something.

I am still waiting on responses too. I applied to 30 schools. Sent in most secondaries around the week of 10/17. Letters of recommendations didn't get sent out until about 10/27. I am complete at most schools. Some schools have not updated that they have received my letters so I have contacted other schools require me to send one more letter (PCOM).

So far I have heard from two schools. One ii and one hold until my semester grades come out.

Have any of you heard back from any other schools?
