Just took the test today @ 530 PM. The only one in there. Anyway, scores are below:
BIO: 19
OC: 22
GC: 21
RC: 21
PAT: 17
TS/AA: 20
Some advice. Firstly I only used Kaplan and AP Cliffs.
BIO:
Really basic, nothing hard at all, seriously BIO101 material, but the material was very broad. Maybe I'd say 8 were specific, but they were not too hard. Had I read or skimmed a few more chapters, I would have certainly done better. I didn't read anything for plants or ecology, lucked out on the no plant questions. Know the central dogma and cells.
I read about 75% of cliffs 3 days prior to 2 hours before the test.
[OC/GC:]
Also not bad at all. At one point, I answered 5 Gchem questions in less than a minute or so. Know the basics more than the detail. Nothing was rediculous on the DAT that I once read: "Calculate the total kg of the fused ore" or something of the sort. You are wasting your time. Kaplan was enough, but I made flash cards of every chapter and had that down well.
Reactions were so elementary.
Kaplan subject tests were EXTREMELY helpful on the orgo, in fact, 5 or so came almost exactly from the tests. I was happy to see that.
I didn't time myself, I actually answered each question and checked the answer one at a time. This way, I wasn't too pressured so I could think straight. Did only one gen chem subject test, felt really prepared on this subject.
Take the online course, do NOT take the class for anyone wondering. I think I went to 4 of the 10 classes, including missing the midterm lol. Class made me yawn and it was almost 45 mins away. My teacher had never even taken the DAT! I even tested her knowledge by asking her, "whats the wait period for retaking?"
Her: You know I'm not sure, you should be able to take again right away. Pssht, very assuring!
RC:
Had a very boring topic which made me lose crucial time reading it and it involved a lot of tone, so I just did a search and destroy right off the bat= BAD idea. The next two passages thankfully were my specialty of my biology major, answered 7/15 without reading the passages. But, I still read the passage fast, noted keywords.
Amount of preparation for RC: 0%
[PAT]: PAT was not hard at all, I was owning keyholes and TFE's, but took a little extra time on the angles, I really makers of ADA copied and pasted some of the same angles. Anyway, I was doing real good and confident until I ran into some bs. When it got to cube counting, this is what messed me up. My pens dried up, both of them! I also had to urinate like a mad man a few mins prior to that so I had to sign out, sign back in, flash ID, go in, etc. Went back, got more pens, etc. I also messed up while counting them, so had to RECOUNT everything, this sucked and cost me valuable time, I ended up having 5 mins on the folding and forgot I left 2-3 blank questions which is also a mistake to do. So I prob missed a lot. I also didn't really practice for this test, maybe one Kaplan test on the CD, thats it, I would have done ok if it wasn't for the various events that took place.
[QR] 16! Hurtin score but his section was brutal from #1. I got a 750 in SAT math, and a 520 Verbal, tables have turned here. The material isn't really hard, its doing the calculations on the crappy sheet thats given. One question was to estimate Log of a very large number. The math is not hard, the time constraints, the medium tip pen and the lengthy calculations were the reason. I also have As in 4 calculus classes I've taken, so whatever!
Study tip: If you're hurtin in math, you're in for a very rude awakening. Practice doing math FAST!
Anyway, how bad is a 17 on PAT? Really angry about that because of what happened, PAT was never a weakness for me, but it is what it is.
3.4 GPA/ 3.67 non Sci, strong LORs, ECs, experience. I also work as a Dental Technician (don't have my CDT), but have been doing it since middle school so I think I have a say for whats in the upper and lower and the dexterity, but not so much the number of exposed blocks ay?
Good luck to everyone! Remember anyone working on it, do NOT sweat the hard material!
