Just checked my mdapps because I got a comment from a person who chose only to be known as "mike." It's funny how he says the only reason I got into FIU was because i am a N****er, that 90% of blacks are in jail and that means a black person with a 2.0 is a genius. Then he said I stole a spot for someone who really deserves it.

I love how he went out of his way to look at my profile and write a long and racist message speculating as to how I got into medical school. Affirmative action has nothing to do with me getting into medical school. It's sad but I'm cool. I'd rather be in medical school than wasting my time commenting on the apps of others. 🙂

What's with the hatin' in some people? Jealousy takes many forms. I know you've already deleted the message, but if it were in mine, I think I'd leave it up there just to let his idiocy shine for all to see. Comments like that don't say thing about YOU, but they speak volumes about the person who writes them. 😡

Yeah this mike character seems to have nothing better to do. If he spent more time looking at his own application (or lack thereof) and less time leaving comments on others he would probably be in medical school already.

That person has already achieved his/her highest achievement i.e. a thread about him/her in this forum. Don't even give them a passing thought and keep racking up those acceptances. This is going to be the best year yet!

Wow!!!!!!! I don't know how to feel. As an Haitian-American I feel so numb that is how hurtful that comment is to people like me who works so hard to make the grade and then to be look upon that I am only in medical school because I am black. That is heartbreaking. But my friend I am glad you put it up there to show the world that racism is still real. Guess What no body can say that OBAMA got elected for president because of the color of his skin. So maybe someday that mentality will change as more black, Hispanic etc........ gain high position. Then again, you know what hate has existed from the beginning of time. It is easier to blame others for our failure than to reevaluate our own short comings. The holocaust is a perfect example. It was easier to blame an entire race of people for the economy of Germany then to fix the problem. Keep your head up we have come so far and we will continue to rise for the bettermen of the human race. And it won't get any easier as you hit residency and so on... I have friends that are in the profession and they have to fight racism everyday. It is sadder when that racism comes from someone within your race. You will encouter black patients who want to be treated by white doctor. It sad but true. Keep your head up (2PAC)!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some things never change, but you have to be able to laugh it off. From experience, nothing enrages them more than a simple smile. Life is too short. Either way, congrats and continue to handle biz 🙂

I actually find that quite humerous. People's ignorance is quite ridiculous. Unfortunately we will encounter those type of 'hatas' every step of the way. The best thing we can do is to keep on gettin those acceptances to medical school, being amazing students, and becoming outstanding doctors.

Just remember where you came from. Be a role model for other minorities so we can keep increasing the number of minority physicians and keep putting these haters to shame.
