At our hospital (academic) the surgeons are not to bad on average some of course being better then others.
Here's a small list, times listed are skin to skin and don't take into account prior preparation:

GI: lap/chole-appendix-hernia: 45min-1h
colon: 2-2.5h

Ortho: TKR 1.5h, THR2h
Hip screws 45min-1h

Vascular: Abdo Aneurysm, carotids: 1-1.5h

Gyn: hysterectomy: 2h

How long do the most common procedure take where you guys work?

it is so variable and dependent on whether or not a junior resident or senior resident takes the case that it's not even worth mentioning.

i will say this... if the case is going late (7:30-8:00 pm) and i look over and see the junior resident say to the scrubbed 3rd year med student, "hey, why don't you take a whack at closing this 25cm skin incision," i've found a squirming, light patient tends to get the case done more quickly.

Thats really good for an academic center.

Those are more like private practice times, with the exception of the TAH which is usually about an hour.

You must have a deft vascular dude....1 hour AAA is CDAZY FAST.

are they really doing knees faster than hips? I've seen hips done in under 1 hour skin to skin but the knees seem more like a solid 2+ hour case. Not sure if it's the damn rep that they chat with about what size fits best or what not, but our knees are almost always longer than hips.

Sounds like a AAA stent, not an open AAA repair.

Around here for private practice:

Straight CABG: 2-4 hours
Valve/Valve-CABG: 3-5.5 hours
Lap gastric band: 20-35 minutes
Lap gastric bypass: 1.5 hours
Carotid: 45 minutes - 1 hour
Lumbar 360 fusion 1 level: 3-3.5 hours
Lumbar 360 fusion 2 levels: 3.5-4.5 hours
Scoliosis repair (Usually T2-S1 posterior fusion, L2-S1 ALIF, variable number of thoracic vertabrectomies): 5-6 hours
FESS/Septo/Turbinoplasty: 1-1.5 hours
BMT's: 10 minutes

When you come out of academics, just be aware that speeds can be tremendously faster than academics and if you're used to using morphine/pancuronium, you are going to significantly delay turnover for the next case.

Talk to your new partners and find out who is fast and who is slow and plan accordingly.

2h for the AAA when they go well vascular dudes are pretty slick
hips and knees are about the same with the knees being a bit faster it seems
