Hi everyone.

The SIG at my school is pretty active with activities such as suture workshops, surgical subspecialties month, fundraising etc.

I am currently VP of the chapter at my school and would appreciate any ideas of other activities or just sharing your experiences if you are part of your school's chapter.

Thanks in advance! 🙂

No other SIG' s out there?? 🙁

Ill be looking to join mine at my school when i start. Im stilll <MS1.

Ill let you know. Where are you?

I went to the or as a first year medical student. I didn't scrub but I observed a lot of surgeries thanks to the surgery club. They sign up a bunch of 1st and 2nd year students every year and schedule them to get into the or and observe surgeries. It's really a great learning environment because you can ask questions, and answer questions incorrectly without worrying about whether you are going to get a good grade. It's a wonderful, low-stress way to get your feet wet. I knew after the first case I observed that surgery was a big possibility for me. And it helps others too who go in there, and walk out realizing that surgery is not something that they want to do.

Plus, it's a great reason to skip class.
