Whew I was hoping it wouldn't take long to find a job.

My internet connection isn't fast enough. I guess I'll have to keep practicing my surgery skills by removing the funny bone from the Operation patient.

Actually, if I'd stayed on the hospital ship Africa Mercy for a few months longer than I did, I would have had the chance to do some minor surgery. One of the orthopods needed someone to take screws out of legs after the bones had had a chance to grow, and he wasn't going to be around to do it. He asked me in all seriousness if I'd be willing to learn to do the procedure. I said that since I'm a carpenter I have plenty of experience unscrewing things, so leg screws wouldn't be any problem at all. I ended up passing up the opportunity so I could go back to the US and take the prereqs for med school. In hindsight, if I'd stayed I'd certainly be qualified to join Winged Scapula's practice as an orthopod, thereby saving myself five years of school and five of residency. 😉
