I got a pair of 2.5x surgitel loupes today and I have switched them over to a pair of 5.5x second hand ones. Everything is great except that one of the lenses does not line up perfectly with my left eye and with this magnification it gives me a headache after a while.

I've been trying to adjust the alignment with no success, partly because I'm worried about breaking them if I apply too much torque.

Does anyone know how to adjust them without sending them in? I only need to move it a few millimeters...

Heat the lens before adjusting it with contact heat, then adjust the lens. Verify IPD is correct bilaterally and follow with proportionally same measurement for the magnifying optic. The challenge is usually establishing the same working length focus for both lenses. Mount the frame on a clamp and sight the lens with a properly positioned target image with a measured field of vision. If you break the lens you need an aspherical lens cut cut to size, then remount to suit.
