I have just finished my second year in collelge. I was wondering whether it is going to look bad on me if I switch my major for the second time. I was an electrical engineering major for three semesters ( i was doing ok) and I switched to biomeical engineering last semester becasue I thought BME might be more interesting than EE. Now, I consider to swtich to bio because my grades were horriable.
I am sure that I will do much better in bio than BME, but my main concern was how medical school evaluate my transcript

any suggestion?

thanks

Poor grades will look worse than changing your major. But don't tell them you changed for better grades. Tell them you changed because when you were taking the pre-med classes, you realized how much you loved bio and how passionate you became about it. Clearly you weren't passionate about engineering, so swapping to bio would make sense. An even better story would be to swap majors to your true and deepest academic love, even if it's not bio. Enlish Lit, Anthro, Psych, French, etc. Then get a bio minor or just do the pre-med courses. Do what you love, because you're going to be a doctor anyway. Convey this attitude to the med school, and you'll do fine.

I dont believe that it even shows on your transcript that you officially switched your major...

Engineering classes as electives for a bio major might look a little odd though. However, I don't see this hurting you as it's not like these classes are ploys to boost your GPA. Trust me, like GoodDoctor said, you're fine as long as you're happy and motivated about your new major.

You just have to weigh whether it'll make you stay a whole lot longer as well. I don't think something like that would be a problem. I changed from bioengineering to information science after only one year though and I am cutting it damn close to not being able to graduate next year...which I have to for the simple fact that I don't have the money or the patience to stay up at that school.

thanks guys. well, i am concern about switching major is because it will be my second time to switch my major. I think medical school will question my motivation of swtiching a major again due to be low grade from last semester.
