A lot of questions for the family physicians and residents out there:
I'm currently a 2nd year EM resident at a 4 year program. My pre-lim year was IM(wards, ICUx2mo,CCUx2mo) with no clinic rotations.
1. Will I need to complete all three years?
2. Are there certain programs that are more receptive to residents who are switching fields?
3. I'm looking for solid peds/ob/office procedure training. Any advice about programs in Virginia in particular and east coast/southeast?
4. Is it appropriate to contact programs directly or do I need to go through the match?
Thanks for any advice you can give me.
