I am set to graduate this quarter with a Psych degree. I was planning on applying to a PhD program. But I think I want to apply to med school I still have a ton of prereqs I will need to take. I am in Ohio now but want to move back home to Florida. Should I get my degree and finish my classes at a University down there? My concern is that I don't think I can get financial aid since I'll be non degree seeking...? Or should I suck it up and postpone my graduation for two more years and finish at Ohio State?

Also, I have one year experience as an intern... With full time hours in the summer.. As a family care consultant in the ICUs. I also helped create a fundraising student organization for the hospital. I was a youth leader for two years at a church. Other than shadowing experience which I plan on getting do you think I'll need more volunteering/ research etc.?

Your best shot will probably be doing a post-bacc. Which will cost a lot of money but it'll get your pre-reqs done + some. Probably best to do it in Florida as well. You need 100+ clinical volunteering hours and then its probably good to have an semesters worth or more of research ( I presume being a psych major who was looking for a PhD that you have this completed).

stafford loans are available for post-bac work, provided it's a program that confers some type of credential (certificate/M.S. degree). an so-called "informal" post-bac won't qualify, at which point you're looking at floating rate credit-based loans that will likely require a co-signer.
