Switching to Psych after PGY-1

Hello, I am starting my PGY-1 this year. Basically doing a transitional medicine year. I am interested in getting a PGY-2 psych spot. What is the best way to go about this?

Apply to programs directly. Start calling.

If you're on good terms with your PD ask them to help call around. They might know psych PDs who know other psych PDs with open spots.
