SWOSU Fall 2012 Applicants

Yay, thanks for making a thread! I am applying to SWOSU only. Previously applied to medical schools and made the change after working in a pharmacy for over a year. Good luck to all applying! My sister is a first year pharmacy student there so I'm kind of familiar with the process. SWOSU is slower than most schools so it will be a test of patience. I'm ready to hear something soon!
 
🙁 I'm from Texas so they said that I don't get considered until the second round 🙁 I'm just really scared my stats aren't that competitive and judging from the previous threads, this school's uber competitive! >.<

I applied last year, and my stats were very competitive, but they said i wasnt accepted because im from texas. I am reapplying this year so good luck to us:xf::xf:
 
I was not allowed to even apply to SWOSU because I had moved from Oklahoma. They said they will accept applicants from Texas and Arkansas but not from states further removed....even if an Oklahoman with deep seated roots to the area.
 
for being a public school, is it legal for them to refuse students because they are out of state??

Not all forms of discrimination are illegal. It's legal.

There are many Texas residents enrolled in their college of pharmacy so there is no need to feel hopeless.

I am not feeling hopeless because I am not even OOS and I am not applying to SWOSU. I was simply making a remark. I dont think they really like anything that is not "Oklahoman" and me being a foreigner does not help my cause. I already had quite of a experience with them. So I pass.

Foreigner as in another ethnicity or another state? If it's the former, you couldn't be further from the truth.

I dont want to say yes. But I know it might have been part of it. Also, the Admission lady told me I was missing about 12 credits hours although I took the classes she told me I needed to take. Anyways, I dont think it was meant to be.
 
I got something in the mail today telling me that I had to send in my SAT scores even though they were on my Transcripts! >_< and to rewrite my Autobiographical Sketch :/
 
Oh no! That is a bummer. Hopefully everything gets straightened out.
 
Received my interview invite in the mail today! Anybody schedule theirs yet?
 
Got my interview invite in the mail as well! I have been avoiding the mailbox for a couple days so I'm not sure when it actually came. Will call and set up my interview tomorrow!
 
Awesome! I'm still trying to double check with my work/school schedule to make sure I don't miss out on anything. Really excited!
 
I scheduled my interview for April 5th! Anyone else have theirs that day?

How did the interviews going for everybody? Harsh? Easy?
 
So seems like Interviews wrapped up earlier this week! Now just a week or two until we find out whether we're in or not! Is everyone as nervous as I am? This waiting all April long is killing me. Good luck to all who interviewed!
 
The wait is killing me as well!! All day I'm just thinking about what my outcome will be! How did your interview go?
 
It was good... Minus a couple of, "take a scientific topic and tell me a little about it..." questions. Ahh. But once I got through those, it was smooth sailing. lol How was yours?
 
I made the mistake of telling them that my favorite science subject was O. chem so they proceeded to draw structures and asked me to name them! After that it was smooth sailing as well. I wonder who else that was invited was from Texas.
 
OMG you made the same mistake as I, They started to ask me predict the products kind of like questions. Lucky altleat they drew the structures for you, but I had to figure it out from thin air....I am from Texas too...After that the interview was definitely a breeze
 
lol oh man that is crazy! After the interview I said to myself "should have just said I like micro. bio or something". What part of Texas are you from?
 
Oh my gosh. I'm so relieved to hear y'all say that. I was hoping I wasn't the only one with those questions, even tho yours do sound a little worse than mine. From the sounds of it, the three of us had the same interviewer probably. But good luck! One week left!
 
Was your interviewer the guy with the turban?
 
Mine was the gentleman who looked like the Indian fellow from Big Bang Theory
 
Yes, mine had a turban. haha. Hopefully he doesn't decline every single applicant he interviews...
