Hi guys,

so i'm a bit confused with this whole line counting thing. For instance, I'll count 10 horizontal lines for the front view, and when looking for the correct end view, the answer choices would only have 6 horizontal lines. Could someone just run through what to do? I understand the relationships between the different views but I'm evidently doing something wrong when counting these lines. Also what would you do w/ circles, and slanted lines?

cheers.

Holy crap, without line counting what are we supposed to do?!?! 😵, does anyone have any super effective strategy alternative??😱:scared::scared::scared:

I found out that line counting method did not work about two weeks before my test. Until then, that was the only method that I was accumstomed to TFE.

Since people were saying that line counting method works for a few problems at least, I couldn't give up. I practiced a lot so that I was able to do line counting very quickly. For every TFE problem, I did line counting very rapidly in order to eliminate any option(s). Usually, one or two options are eliminated, but it is quite hard to choose one of the remaining choices. That is when 3D visualization comes into play. Just practice regularly so that you can visualize models better and quicker. Hope this helps.

line counting is a waste of time. its pointless...

the key to TFE is visualizing the object in your head and understanding what the dotted lines and straight lines are telling you.... without being able to visualize the object, you will have a very hard time. forget all about line counting and start using the information given to visualize the object

4 months of doing PAT problems (CDP, IQ pubs, kaplan, barron's) and I STILL don't understand TFE. I think it's going to be that one section I'm just going to skip (well not really skip, but make an educated guess on all of the questions).

Well I think I've begun to understand how to visualize TFE now!! Use the CDP explanations and stare at them until you are able to recreate the shape in your head. It worked for me 🙂.

But I still start with line counting which helps me alot personally.
