The anxiety is killing me!!! Almost more nervous about Monday than Thursday...what are other people doing to pass the time? I am on a fairly busy rotation right now and am gonna get out of town on friday for a three day weekend...just wish it was tomorrow already! Also, I really want to meet this POS match computer that takes this many days to run the algorithm...they should borrow my dell next year and have it back the next day 🙂

Posting interview impressions helped me pass the time. 😉

I do feel your pain though, the wait was absolutely agonizing. Monday was definitely a bigger worry than Thursday. I think once you're certain that you've matched into Rad Onc, the where is not nearly as big a deal. As for the long delay between Rank List Certification and the actual Match . . . I've heard the process of running the match algorithm only takes a few minutes. However, they re-run the numbers several times to ensure quality control. There is also the tedious process of preparing tens of thousands of envelopes to send to applicants and their med schools.

Hang in there!

I'm with ya! Nervous as heck!

My thoughts going into Monday: "Please let me match please let me match" (Both for Rad Onc and TY!!!)
My thoughts going into Thursday will be (assuming I match): "Please not the midwest! Please not the midwest!"

As for me, I'm on vacation. Not good for free time to worry, but hey keeping active and not working is great for the mind once and awhile

Forget the envelopes, just tell me already!

I've been passing the time by watching Arrested Development on hulu.

Im on an insanely difficult rotation right now and its really keeping me busy. Still, i definitely find time to remember how crazy next week will be!

Good luck to all of you in the match! After you match, enjoy the honeymoon until intern year begins..

As the wise El Twardo once famously said:

"The two happiest days of my life were the day I matched into radiation oncology and then the day I started my residency after a year of hell in IM internship."

Of course, he said this while he was still a resident..maybe the new happiest day was first day of the phat paycheck after residency..dunno😛

Don't hate...a lot of us love the midwest. 🙂

Good luck to everyone this week! You guys are a really amazing group of people, and I would be extremely lucky to spend the rest of my professional career with you all.

Matched, woohoo!!!!!!! wow, whats with 6 unfilled rad onc spots?!?!, especially one in the west coast...
who else is gonna join me on this epic voyage? bueller, bueller bueller???

Are all of the 6 unmatched spots legit? I know in previous years, some of the "unmatched" spots were not real...

does that mean a program intentionally decided to leave a position open by not ranking anyone?

From what I remeber from last year there were some of these phatom spots in the scramble. I think they arise from programs that are not in the match for this year and fail to inform/update the NRMP of this, which puts them down as having at least one spot even though they didn't interview or rank anyone, which really make you wonder about whose running these things.

Not sure how people are estimating the number of unmatched spots already, since the programs don't find out if they matched until tomorrow at 11:30 am eastern.

They are looking at the nrmp report of regional statistics by specialty.
