Hey guys! Just wondering what's your take on practice exams in the evening? Has anyone out there tried it? I'm asking this because I'm writing the exam in a little over a month and I'm wrapping up my content review and about to start practice FLs... previously, I've done Kaplan 1-5 and so now I plan on doing the rest as well as the AAMCs. I work full time during the day and so this leaves me with only full days on the weekends; I'm afraid might not be enough to get all my FLs done so I'm contemplating doing some of them in the evening...
Has anyone tried this before? Any advice would be appreciated!

If you have to choose between taking AAMCs at night and not taking all of them, definitely take them at night. It won't be exactly the same, but at least you're taking them. My exam's at 8 AM and I'm not taking my practice tests then just because it would be hell to get up that early and the library doesn't even open until 8:30...

I was absolutely terrible and took my practice exams at all ours of the day. They were barely consistent. I think it matters more that you take them - it would be optimum to take them at the same time of day, but don't let that keep you from taking them at all.

Thanks for the advice guys! So what you're saying is I should do all of them regardless of who/what/where/when lol :laugh: ... Point taken! Yeah, I really do want to get all of them done so I'll have no choice but to do some in the evening! Also, as you're doing them, do you guys actually do the written portion as well or do u skip it and then do them all at a later time... I think for some I did it during the test and for others I've done them at a later time. I guess for the ones I'll be doing in the evening, I might leave out the writing part and do it at a later time since I don't want it to drag on past midnight! Any thoughts on that?😕

I'm not doing the writing portions - I'll answer the prompts on their own. I'm not really worried about writing, I just have to get used to the format they want.

I know I did it on the first FL AAMC test I took, but I skipped it during the rest of them. I might have done one more toward the end with writing and all. The only reason I suggest it is that you want to feel everthing as it would feel on the test (minus the extra anxiety....too bad we can't practice that). I think the boredom or tiredness you might feel by completing the writing and THEN doing bio might be better for your practice than simply skipping it and having that extra bit of energy for the BS section.

In other words, do it at least twice before the real exam. Just to be sure 😉

I practiced for the real MCAT by waking up at 6am and taking a FL at 8am....it was hell and idk if it really even helped at all.

It really doesn't matter when you take them, but I'd suggest in the morning so you have the rest of the day to relax or review some more.

Yes, I'll definitely try and do some with the writing portion incorporated but perhaps not the ones which I plan on taking in the evening seeing as I want to limit non-lucid thoughts! :smack:

And I totally agree on doing it early on during the day and that way we can take the rest of the day off but in my case, I'll be at work during the day on most days... :lock:
