Take the MCAT...for fun?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Based on ur post I guess you scored at least decently on 6/16's test.

I wouldn't bother with the test because 1. This is not going to have real practice value - you know you are going to void, you not going to try as hard, what's the point? 2. Waste of time.

Well, I did score well enough to apply, but if I am not getting the responses I want, it WILL be because of MCAT score, no doubt. Also, I don't suffer from any sort of test anxiety (I took the test twice already). I have never really been tripped up by PS or VR (they are usually the same each test), but the BS seems to fluctuate quite a bit, and I would be interested to see what they throw on it. I agree that taking the test would be a pain and probably not that useful, but it just seems like a golden opportunity to learn more about the test...

You can end the section, skip through breaks, etc.

CB offers a more lazy alternative, though :)

Lazy FTW.

I think if he doesn't show up... nothing is put on his THx... but if he shows up and voids... then it shows up that he voided.

No show is not an attempt as far as scoring/voiding are concerned.

Wait, are you saying ADCOMs can see that I voided a test? Even so, I guess it wouldn't matter so much. But is it true?

It shows up as a void on THX ONLY because the AAMC keeps track of how many times per year you're allowed to take the test.

As the AAMC wrote in the MCAT Essentials and elsewhere, schools will NOT know you voided a test. From a medical school standpoint, voiding your test is the equivalent of never having taken it.

Edit: From MCAT Essentials page 25:

"The AAMC will not report your participation in the test to AMCAS or to non-AMCAS schools if you void your scores. However, we will regard you as having attended the test and will therefore count the attempt toward one of the three permitted each year."

If you take the test, wouldn't the adcoms have to wait another month for your new scores to come in before they review your file and think about sending interview invites?

I am not indicating that I took the test on my AMCAS. I don't see how they would ever know the deal went down 🙂
