I have decided to change my major this quarter, so I'm dropping a class that's for my old major. Since the add-deadline is past, I can't add another class, so I'd be left with 3 classes (12 units)

Does that look like slacking off on a transcript to the adcom people? Or does it not matter as long as I do well in the classes.

Thanks!

People drop classes for several reasons. Work, family, disinterest, and so many more. I think you will be fine as long as you do well in them. and if they ask, you have a legit reason.

Three classes was considered a full load at my postbacc program, because they're all science courses. So the answer is, it depends on what you're taking. As long as it's not underwater basketweaving, you should be fine.

You said you were on the quarter system right? I was too, and there were several quarters where I only took 3 classes. You're full time (12 units), so you're fine. 🙂

i took 3 classes a few times. i have a bunch of interviews, but i'm also awesome. take from it what you will.

im on quarter system and i always take 3 classes (12-14 units).

you look like a slacker if you fall below full time. as long as your full time, no one is going to care

underwater basket weaving sounds difficult...

I have rarely taken more than three courses--and I've done fine on my admissions cycle.
Good luck 🙂

When I have wrestled with issues such as this in my own life, I always pose this question to myself: What would Benjamin Franklin do? And then I answer this question and invariably make the correct choice.
