Hey guys, I'm a 29 year old pharmacist living in Ontario, Canada. I've been practicing as a registered pharmacists for 3 years now. I have plans to relocate to Alberta and start working there early 2019. Between that time and now I was considering taking 3-4 months off to travel, until I relocate and find a new job in Alberta. I know, 3-4 months is a long enough time and was hoping to possible still make some income while I travel. Do any of you guys have any suggestions or aware of any opportunities for a pharmacists to make extra income working online? Thanks for any input!

Apply for TN visa. Come here and make minimum $60+/hr USD working retail in the US. Take Naplex and mpje/cpje (CA). Contribute to the over saturation.

Profit!

My last hospital has total of four pharmacists work remotely. Also, some pharmacists work for tele-pharmacy companies. My current hospital utilize some of the services.

Maybe someone from retail can also shed some light on this matter.

that be amazing, i always wondered why we can't sign off on prescriptions remotely. Can you imagine travelling and then signing of on prescriptions while your travelling the world!

Sounds like a good way to ruin a vacation.

Well not really, for example I'm filipino (born there - raised in Canada). Can you imagine your spending potential....your in a country where 1 dollar - 42 pesos. Making dollar working remotely and enjoying the beaches etc and technically making 3x now since your making money but spending less? Seems like a smart idea lol

I had the same idea, I really want to move to Mexico and just work remotely from there

Look up PipelineRx, Cardinal, Comprehensive Pharmacy Service; they are already here and servicing hospitals.
Typical candidate has 5+ years of hospital experience, with residency. Epic is designed with remoteness in mind.

If we do open he flood gate and using this widely, we may see our jobs being outsourced. My last hospital did that so we do not backfill FTE. We hired the service as purchase service and never had to deal with benefit.
Furthermore, foreign pharmacist may be willing to take even lower pay and live as expat and disrupt the job market. We better be careful what we wish for, this business model may ultimately spell doom for many pharmacists.

who would be responsible if a foreign pharmacist makes a mistake

Dignity Health started a tele-pharmacy program a few years ago in which pharmacists can remotely verify/order from home.

I was referring to foreign pharmacists who are licensed here, but live aboard as expatriate.

You are right to worry about that though, because if a patient is killed, the pharmacist could decide to stay away from US soil to avoid trial or pay damage. If there is no extradition treat, then the only recourse would be garnish the social security......
