I’m a freshman who is taking a comp sci course and not doing well in it. I have the option to switch it to pass/fail and I’m wondering if I should do that. My major is not CS nor related to engineering.

Will this negatively impact my application in any way?

I would totally do it and get the pass if you're not assured a good grade (B or higher). If it's not a prereq, nor relevant to your major you could easily explain it as something you wanted to do for fun to learn something new.
