I recently transferred schools, and my Chem 1 class won't transfer over. I can't take Chem 2 without taking Chem 1 over again. I got an A when I took it, so I'm not worried about the grade. Will it look weird to take it again (not that I have a choice)?

I had to do that with bio and it never came up at any of my interviews. Even if someone asks you about it in an interview, you have a perfectly good reason for the retake.

Have you tried to approach the chemistry department for an override? They may consider chem 1 to be a required course for chem 2, but if you bring them a transcript from your previous school and show them that you've taken it, maybe they'll let you into the class. If not, I agree with what the others have said - it shouldn't hurt you because your reason is perfectly legitimate.

can't you take an equivalency exam? your new school might be looking for a little bit of extra material that you didn't get the first time around, but you might be able to teach that to yourself and pass out of the class w/ minimal effort.
