My friend attends dental school at Baylor. She is in her 2nd year. Anyway, she told me that she is hoping to take spring semester of her 3rd year off to have a baby. I know nothing, so I didn't say anything to her about this. Can someone take just one semester off in dental school? I was under the impression that if you took time off, it would have to be a full year. Anyone have an idea? I'm an idiot when it comes to this topic 😉

Nope.... You take off a semester, you re-do a year.

Note to self: Don't get knocked up during dental school.

I don't see how you could possibly take off only a semester. Unless she had special connections in the school, she would almost certainly have to take a full year.

If that is a picture of you in your avatar i hope you find it very hard to get knocked up... either that or you need to try and get on extreme makeover...

I am always "safe"

Tell her to suck it up and have the dang kid. I've personally known 3 women to get "knocked up" and have a kid at my school in the past 4 years. None of them took more than a few weeks off from school. And at least one has gone on to specialize.

If you want a kid while in school - go get one. Its a free country.

How come I get this feeling that every time someone posts something saying " I have a friend that is X, Y, Z" that it's not the friend they asking for but themselves.🙄

Yeah, generally, I get that feeling too. In my case though, there will be no children for quite some time...so no worries 😉 . My husband doesn't make enough money to afford one without an income from me as well and frankly, call it selfish, but I want to do my best in dental school. I don't possibly know how one could do that with a child to worry about. It will be this girl's first too. Crazy.
