If anyone has any recommendations of what to do I would greatly appreciate the input. I was thinking of taking Anatomy and Physiology over to the summer before planning to start. Main reason for this is the fact that my job is unrelated and I've already had a few months "off" already. Also, I thought it would be a good refresher since it's been about a year since I've taken a similar class.

The problem is the cost. A four credit course like that is expensive and time consuming. I'm not sure if it's worth it. I could just review a little on my own while volunteering or setting up my housing and such. I just think it would be a good idea to get reacquainted with the material again in a classroom setting since it's been a little while.

I would just kick it. I know what you mean about falling out of student mode when you know you're about to be slammed. Did you have any classes this past spring? Or have you been out awhile? If you're concerned, you could just try to discipline yourself and brush up a little on your own. A class seems like too much of a pain, even if you could just do it pass/fail or something. Maybe you could just sneak in on lectures. My work is in a healthcare environment, but it's hardly related. In fact it's at the complete opposite end of the digestive tract.

I was thinking of possibly retaking the DAT instead. The prep course for it would be free and it would be a nice light way to stay somewhat focused during the summer. Worse case scenario, study for the retake and don't take it. Either way it'll be a refresher.

I was wondering though....if someone were to boost their score after making a deposit, would that increase their chance of receiving some sort of award based scholarship?

Are you crazy? I'm studying for the DAT now and there is no way that I would waste my time next summer to do it again if I was already accepted. Most of the material on the DAT is irrelevant to success in dental school. If you were accepted, then you have proven that you can handle the academics of dental school. Enjoy your summer and relax! Pick up a new hobby and brush up on your manual dexterity skills, volunteer in a dental lab to make your life easier later. If you want to exercise your brain, then you can study anatomy without taking a class. Memorize the facial nerves, learn how to identify teeth, etc. But if I were in your shoes, I would take it easy!

If you really want to brush up on anatomy, buy a medical anatomy book to read on the beach ( ;....don't waste money and time.
