For me it was completely different from o Chem. The material is different and it's less mechanism oriented. O Chem is more understanding what electrons will do and understanding basic chemistry concepts, whereas I found biochem to be a lot more blunt memorization. There was a large volume of information in my biochem class and you had to know things in extreme detail. But that probably depends on your professor more than anything.

So to answer your question - biochem will be harder if you aren't very good at memorizing lots of material in detail. But again, this is just my experience

I'm currently taking biochem and I am doing better than how I did in orgo 1 and 2. I feel like it's less memorizing for me and it is definitely more interesting. I don't think I had the greatest orgo foundation so orgo 2 was a struggle. Ochem does seem to help a bit when you take biochem. Good luck!

I am studying for the MCAT and taking Biochem this semester. The test is full of biochem, so give yourself plenty of time after the class is over to make sure that you understand the concepts fully and have time to review the content from a test standpoint.
