Hey guys, been checking out this forum for some time now, I decided to get a little more involved, register and make a few posts. I am planning on taking the DAT in 2 months. Materials I have:

Kaplan DAT Book
DAT Destoryer
Barron DAT... can't recall the exact title, not at home so can't go look right now

I've heard really good things about Crack DAT PAT, but haven't put out the cash for it.

My weaknesses are Chem and math for sure. So I know I need to focus on that quite a bit. Any suggestions from anyone? Thanks for the help and support!

Cliffs AP Bio for the Biology section. Although if you are shooting for a high score in Bio (23+), you should look into Schaum's and Campbell. Kaplan is pretty much useless for Bio, PAT, and QR. It's decent for Chem and Orgo, though. If you have a solid foundation in the chemistries, Destroyer will be sufficient for Orgo.

Crack DAT PAT is all you need for PAT. Do SAT math problems for QR. Barron DAT is useless.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm started to get a little freaked out. I feel like I don't have enough time to prepare properly. Granted I have kids and school right now, so I don't have all day every day for DAT...I'm getting really nervous already...

Skimmed through that, looks good. I will give it a good read later today after my Physics test..argg... Thanks for the help. So many threads on the forum, sometimes it's hard to search and find good stuff like that. Thanks man!👍

Hi !
Can somebody help me where can i get key words for chemistry .👍
I m planning to give Canadian DAT on feb 21,09..😡.
Finding difficulty with chemistry and Maths...😕
Can anyone be good enough to give me some suggestions regarding this ....
pleaseeeeeeeeeeeee

For O-chem and gen chem, get good study guides (no need to slave through a college textbook), understand the concepts, then get your hands on as many practice problems as you can.

For Bio, I wouldn't recommend Schaum's because you will likely zone out after reading a few pages; it's fairly dense and detailed. Use Cliffs AP and supplement it with google and this: http://web.stillwater.k12.mn.us/~weavera/download/APBio/Campbell%20AP%20Biology%20Lectures.htm
It's essentially the Campbell textbook summarized.

Someone put that up on a website, I heard good things about it, I havent really watch it. Its basically chemistry review on video lectures. Its about a little over 12.5 hours long

Hopefully it will help

Good Luck, when you taking it? I am taking mine in end of March

Don't let numbers you get on your assessment exams and things like that convince you into thinking that is what you'll get on the real thing. Most of the prep stuff out there, espcially for the sciences, are hard. Also you should try to surround yourself around people who are looking to score high and not just settle for a mediocre score. The study habits, attitudes, and and perseverance of those who aim for 20+ are quite different from those who are fine with 18's and 19's.

Having that said I am studying Biology straigh from Campbells and High-Yield Biology (this if more of an overview). Crack DAT PAT seems to be really good, Achiever is ridiculously hard in this section. Good luck with everything, hope you do well.

barron dat is filled with mistakes. It's only decent for PAT questions, so stick to those

i'm also taking the exam around april/june and i have the kaplan, destroyer and cliffs for bio. I'm also using the textbooks i have from gen chem, orgo and bio. The destroyer will be great for you weaknesses in chem and in math.

Thanks for all the suggestions and comments guys. I will look into some of the other material, and well take note of the suggestions for the Barron's book I already have. Tomorrow is my good solid study day, giving 4 or 5 hours tomorrow, no classes on Sat. Is/Has anyone tried studying for the DAT while taking classes?? Tough to juggle the time...I'm trying to really focus and crack down on studying.

yea my test is in may so im starting to study now because im also enrolled in the kaplan course. im currently taking organic II, microbial biology and research

Been doing a lot of Chemistry reading today. There are so many bloody equations used to find so many different things. Have any of you found any useful tricks for remembering which equation to use, and how to remember them all? I assume you aren't given equations or constants on the DAT.

Thanks for the detailed information. I went ahead and read it all today. Really cleared some things up for me and was really insightful, thanks for the link!
