Hi, I am an applincant to med shcools. Here is what I did and I was wondering if anyone can give an advice on what to do:
In april 2003 I took the mcat for the first time and scored 23 (5V, 9P, 9 B) and I applied through amcas in august, thinking of doing better on the august mcat. I know that decision was rash and haphazard and that was probably the biggest mistake of my life. I scored a 25 on August mcat (9V, 7P, 9B), and I must admit that I barely studied the science section the second time. So I went on with the application process, hoping to get inteviews from some schools. But of course, it is the end of March and I got rejection letters from every school but Drexel and Mt. Sinai.
At this point I am thinking of putting all of my effort into preparing to take the August 2003 mcat the 3rd time. and then reapplying early in June of 2004 for the 2005 entering class. Is such a solution worth the effort and is it a realistic one? I really think I can score at least 30 if I put my 100%. Or do you think that may be I should be thinking of changing my career goals? I think my only weakness is the mcat, I have a 3.7 gpa, biochem major, good research and volunteer experience.
