I've looked and found some info on the boards in regards to delaying step 2 until after applications are out, but some of this info has been conflicting and none of it has been specific to ortho. What are the current thoughts about delaying step 2?

If you think you’ll do well, take it. If not, delay.

Is it really that simple? Or does it hurt your chances of getting interviews if you don't have a step 2 score by September 15th when ERAS is due (assuming the applicant has a 250+ step 1 score)?

250+ step 1.

If I did delay the test, my reason for doing so would not be because I didn't think I would do well. It would be primarily to free up some time and energy to concentrate on my remaining clinical rotations and bang out as much research as humanly possible before apps are sent out. That being said - I would not delay it if doing so would hurt my chances, obviously.
