taking step II early

I didnt do so hot on Step I, so I would like to take Step II "early" so that schools I am applying to can see that I am amazing.... 😉
What is considered "early?" I heard something about Sept 30th.....

I am not sure if there is an exact date that makes the test "early." Just know that it takes about 4 weeks to get your scores back. My first interview was at the end of October. Thus, if you want your scores to be on your transcript before schools are looking at you for interviews, you should try to take it a one before apps can be submitted. I know some of my classmates who were really worried about their step I scores took step II in July. I think this is a little excessive. I was told by the program director at my school that for peds you really only need >200 on Step I to be considered "strong applicant."
