I was wondering if it really mattered in medschool apps whether I take summer classes at my home colleges vs. at home

Headsup, i'm taking summer classes to raise my GPA!!! (important because it's about GPA, not GERs)
I really want to be at home because it's much much cheaper for me. But of course, if it is even slightly better... it's worth the extra cost for me. I heard that med schools will factor the outside classes into your GPA.
But of course, is there discrimination against these classes???

Try not to take your prereqs at a different institution. It might not matter in the end but still it could look bad. This question has been asked 342343 times so do a search for more responses.

whats wrong with taking summer classes a reputable institution closer to home? as long as the course isnt a pre req or biochem or some other important bcpm course, i doubt it matters at all. if it is a pre req, try and take it at your home university, but know there are plenty of cases of people taking science courses/ pre reqs over the summer at their state college and still got accepted... so its not a death sentence or anything.

If you read my post you would know that
I AM NOT taking pre-reqs during the summer
I've already finished all my pre-reqs

what I want to do is take other science classes to RAISE my GPA

I know that Medschools factor in grades from other colleges attended into the GPA
So I was wondering, is it better to take these at Emory University (where I attend)
or can I take them at a SUNY near home and let the Medschools factor in the grades???

basically,

I really want to raise my GPA, but do I have to take these classes at Emory??

No totally not worth taking it there. SUNY isnt a crap community college. so you are fine. And since you are at home you can probably do other stuff too, maybe some shadowing?

That was what I was thinking, I could shadow and volunteer

I have about a 3.46, and need the summer classes to boost my GPA to a 3.5
is this a reasonable move??
will the college take this more seriously if I take it at Emory??

It's SUNY -buffalo BTW
